It takes a special kind of screw up to mess up a popularity contest.  Every high school student council across the US can pull one off with certainty every year, but a professional game development company can't do the same thing without making a royal mess of it.

So far femShep #5 between the original vote (31K+ votes) and vote #2 brought on by the whiners (another 4,500+ votes) is going to end up coming in last place while having over 3 times the number of votes of the winner.  Hard to believe you can mess something up that badly on accident.

Er... how was it messed up, exactly?

Considering red hair had over 10,000 votes before most people knew there was a new poll (most people still don't, tbh) it's obvious there's nothing accidental about it.

And suddenly I don't care about this issue anymore.

I'm making Shepard #2 from the original poll.

=D
Yeah, though the vote feckup is still you know, a global feckup, this just makes it all better for me considering everyone, regardless of the polls and their votes can go into the CC and use the hairstyle they wanted in the first place + whatever color. It's all good.

You mean aside from the fact that the one coming in last place has a total of over 3 times the number of votes as the winner? :pinched:

I think you mean twice and you're forgetting how long the first poll was up there.  Red hair definitely hit 15k faster than the first poll with #5.

The majority is getting what it wants through a more refined voting process. A run-off election, if you will.

This is broken?  I don't understand.

Is it broken because some people don't like it when the majority wins a vote?

Apparently so considering we even have a second vote after the complete landslide victory of the first vote.

On the contrary, that vote was approved to the point that the winner is only choice available in the second vote.

A more refined run-off vote is not a rejection of the first vote. Not even a little bit.

Edit: Sorry, I should have noticed the banner in your sig and realized that you're a completely unreasonable ****. I'll stop giving you the respect of responding to your posts.

Well if Casey Hudson is getting emails every day from a single person complaining about not getting blonde shepard, then he's not going to change the vote based on that one person, no matter how obnoxious they get.
Numbers really do make a difference here.

Not everyone who wanted a redhead is psychotic about blondes. That was a vocal minority. There were many more reasonable people who just preferred red to blonde. I have a feeling that it was those people that convinced Bioware to make the second vote, rather than the crazy haters.

This is crazy. The haters seemed like the majority (I agree, also the most inflammatory) to me,  although I do admit there was a fair amount of reasonable people. But how do you measure that? How do you know what goes on in the minds of every single person voting? How do you figure that ALL of the people who've reached out to BW asking for a second vote AND those voting for redhead now, weren't also the ones calling her  a "Barbie ****, pornstar, etc"? Where did all that hate and prejudice go, has it just *magically* disappeared? Oh, please.

Second, in the name of *FAIRNESS* (which you claim to be the Paragon of), and you have agreed with me that it was NEVER announced there would be other polls - sure, because they didn't know at the time. But what about the people who voted for blonde (color) and wanted another hairstyle? Have they no right for a second poll as well? How is that for fairness? The second poll doesn't prove anything to me. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I stand by what I said, regardless of the result of the first poll - there shouldn't be there a second. It is just as wrong as the first - maybe not to you because you get what you want. But who cares about the rest, right?

Edit: "A more refined voting process" OH please don't make me laugh. Honey, it should have been that way from the get-go or there should have never been any voting at all. Of course people would not be pleased. There were six generic looks. It's "refined" and acceptable now because it's going the way you want.  I'm sorry, but this is bull and you know it. A lot of you do but don't care because you're getting what you want. Just don't come talking about "fairness". That makes you a hypocrite.

I'm still not seeing what is unfair about the second poll. I really don't see it.

If it was just a whiny vocal minority who wanted the second poll, then why is every hair color getting more votes than original blonde? Even if it was the "vocal blonde hater" minority that made them do the second poll, it would mean nothing and Blondie would still be winning if she was the most popular. She's still there guys, so if the majority loves her so much then why isn't she winning? And not everyone who doesn't vote for Blondie is a blonde hater, I'm certainly not, so get that out of your heads (though the thing I dislike the most about this is that one whiny hateful chick getting her way, trust me.)

There's nothing skewed, it's not a conspiracy, it's not about putting blondes down, it's about giving fans what they want. And guess what? The second poll seems to have been the right call based on the voting. No amount of whining will ever change that, sorry.

And the thing about Redhead Shep being the "favorite" because she has freckles and green eyes: stop. Just stop it. Seriously she would still be winning if she didn't have those features because people are voting on the hair color.

Oh and why is everyone attacking Redhead Shep fans? Because she's winning all of the sudden her fans were the reasoning behind all of the blonde hate? Last time I checked Black hair Shep isn't too far behind. All I'm sensing from those comments is pointless jealousy.

The vote is not unfair. If you want Blondie vote. for. Blondie. That's really all there is too it, so don't get mad when it turns out your choice isn't winning and make excuses for it.

Whew. That's all I have to say. Sorry if I sounded harsh!

What makes you think I'm getting what I want out of either vote? I wanted pixie-cut Shep. The windswept hair commercial was one of my least favorite, and not just because she was blonde. She won fair and square, however, and I'm perfectly satisfied to have *any* FemShep. Now the majority is voting on her hair color, and the majority is choosing what you don't like. Well, I guess now you know how I felt in the first vote? But I got over it, and so can you.

Same here. I wanted the pixie cut, as well. I admit I didn't like the blond at all, but I was willing to deal with it, as the blond lovers so eloquently put it. I guess some people should learn to swallow their own medicine.

I was going to use Custom appearance anyways - because I want the longer hairstyles that will be available (like Ashley's?), so blonde, brunette or redhead, the preset was not even that important to me anyway.

But calling this process fair? I know bull* when I see it.

Esentially, once the vote was going your way, it was a fair vote. Now that it's not, it's unfair.

Why don't you smell what you shovelin'

Yeah. While I'd have preferred for there not to be a second round of voting in the face of all the disparaging blonde remarks (even if it had been planned originally) -- and would have actually liked FemShep to be marketed in such a way that she shattered "blonde bimbo" stereotypes -- the simple fact of the matter is that this round is proving every damn second that at least the largest minority want a red head and the majority either don't want blonde at all, or don't care enough to vote exclusively for it.

Pretty much, I liked #1,but I knew she wouldn't win, I didn't start a flame war over it.

Tis just a hair colour. If ya want blonde so bad, just change it in the customization.
