NO... For me, in a real sense -- Voting for FemShep 5 was my way of giving the "Middle Finger" to that nonesense said about humans with blonde hair
and blue eyes in the Mass Effect Novels.

Apparently, we are suppose to believe that even though people with blonde hair and blue eyes have walked this Earth for thousands of years.By BioWare's reckoning, they should be a rarity in only a little over 175 years time
from now.BioWare Please...

First of all, did the Mass Effect Novels really say that?  It just seems unbelievably tacky and if they did, I'd feel even better about my decision not to read them.

Secondly, the good news is that if RedShep wins, the same 'logic' would apply and a similar finger will have been given.

Its funny, but they indeed say that blonde is very rare in MassEffect universe, and as i can recall we encounter more redheads in the game that blondes also

IIRC, they also say that blue/green eyes are also almost non-existant in the books.  And TONS of characters in the game have light eyes: Joker, Zaeed (his good eye is a dark green), Dr. Chakwas, Sheploo himself, and even Khalisah al-Jilani.  I just don't understand why they said that in the books.

One of the arguments against Blondie Shep was the supposed rarity of her coloring in the future, which is why it truly confuses me that the even rarer red hair/green eyes combo is sweeping the other options.  ::shrug::

The books said that light eyed people are non-existent? Wow that's woefully inaccurate.  The great thing about recessive genes is that they can pop up anywhere, and they do, all over the world.  More people today are carrying the blue eyed gene than ever before.

Red hair and green eyes would be relatively rare because they’re both mutations.  Hmm...and interestingly enough, both of them would give FemShep the perfect exclusivity to complement her exceptional character.

Humanity: Shepard’s the best we’ve got.

I guess I see that working.  Will vote for red too!

Drew bought into an old urban myth, and whoever edited either didn't catch it or didn't know any better. Blonde hair and blue eyes would become proportionally rarer as human populations mixed more and more, but unless there were actual selection pressures against those traits, the responsible alleles wouldn't be eliminated from the gene pool (it could conceivably happen via genetic drift, but the probabilty of that is really, really low).

Exactly, yes.

What bothers me most, though, is that the author apparently didn't notice all the blue-eyed people the designers stuck in the actual game.  I'm glad they're there because that myth is ridiculous, but you'd think one of the writers would still notice that these "rare" blue-eyed folks are running rampant across the galaxy.  XD

The thing is you see almost entirely no blondes in the game to be honest but you will see some blue eye people.

Here is the problem.

During the first poll, everyone voted for the one they wanted most. #5 was winning obviously and it didn't take long until the name calling started. "Barbie", "Pornstar", "Sexsymbol", "Blondes are stupid", even "The hairstyle is impractical during the firefight." Nothing helped, #5 won. Of course everyone else was mad. And it's all Barbies fault. "If it weren't for that wet dream of a 15 year old, we would have won, right? Must have been the hairstyle."

BioWare has listened and voila, here your second poll. Every femshep gets a second chance, but with the same hairstyle. Everyone? Sadly not #1 and #2 are back, but #3, #4 and #6 weren't. Does that sound fair to you? #3 and #4 had more votes than #1 and #2, yet their supporters are not able to vote for them anymore. So what is the alternative? Make sure that the one who beat you in the first round won't survive the second round. It's not vote for the one you want anymore. It's vote against the one who is a thorn in your side. Some people even called it by the name in facebook. "Anything but blonde." they said.

The poll is not neutral anymore. They've got a second chance and they won't let one who beat them walk away, especially not as a winner.

Like I said before, there's got to be SOMEONE at Bioware who's bringing up how awkward this is.

I don't follow. The second poll is just Femshep 5 with different color hair. None of the others from the first poll are back but her.

Well, Revelation doesn't bring up the blue eyes thing. It's Ascension that does that, and it in fact claims that the trait is non-existent, not just rare.

People can still vote for the blond femshep. They can vote for both blondes if they so wish to. Last I checked(could have changed), the raven haired shep was next behind the red. All those people who voted for the blond aren’t voting for her anymore. It does lend to the belief that a lot of people voted for her based solely on the hairstyle, as I have said before. Were it the green eyes drawing in the vote, surely the redhead would have won the first time in spite of the hairstyle. Especially considering that the blond shep is still the same, unchanged face. If so many people wanted her, where is the vote? You can’t tell me every person--the majority--of votes going for the redhead and raven are people who had sour grapes over the blond winning. That is grasping.

Gavin Hossle on Feros. Officer Eddie Lang on the Citadel. Jedore on Korlus. Eva Coré in the Evolution comics. Kate Bowman in BDtS is a reddish-blonde. Crewman Goldstein on the SR-2.  Bailey may have been blonde in his younger days, but that's just a guess based on his blue eyes.  Also, Miranda's intitial designs were blonde, and she even had a Scandinavian surname before they changed it to fit Yvonne Strahovski's accent.

Well, those that won the initial poll, well the second initial poll as there was one on twitter that had many vote for red hair, while maintaining that others "deal with it" and at the same time told said others to lose gracefully didn't win gracefully either.  LPPrince and others threw out and reposted those "deal with it" pics so fast.  All this in spite of the fact that LPPrince, himself, was performing the act of "rubbing it in" which was contrary to a post he made in response to another to not rub it in.  I mean, you reap what you sow at this point.  That's no one's fault but your own.

But you forget that it was the majority of people that voted for blonde Shep that said it was because of the hairstyle only. So they kept the hairstyle and offered natural hair colours - black, brownish, blonde, and red.

I may be missing something, but doesn't each custom face that players make generate a unique face code? Why don't they just look at the stats they gather from the people who played a femshep and use the majority's color hair and eyes as a default?

Honestly, I don't think anyone is that confused. I think they understand why there was a first poll and why there was a second, and why the Shep they like didn't win.

This isn't about understanding, it's about ME ME ME WHAT I WANT IS MOST IMPORTANT. That's why it's gone to 50+ pages.

Sounds exactly like you after blonde Shepard won.

Ha ha ha ha ha HA HA HA HA HA.

Wow, words fail me.

Until recently I had a blonde shep "deal with it" banner in my sig. I was one of the people telling others that Blonde Shep had won and that whining about it was pointless and makes you look like an whiny jerk.  JUST LIKE I'M DOING NOW WITH GINGER SHEP.

Check my posting history if you don't believe me. Jackass.

Stay classy, BSN. You never fail to dissapoint me with your fail.

I love how no matter which Shep won,the complaining and rage threads would be monumental.

But because this makes too much sense, there is a conspiracy instead.

They're overrepresented? Where? And it's too bad so many people aren't so hot over real life gingers. It's kind of nice to see the props they're getting in the gaming world.

Just a feeling I have but I'm pretty sure it would hold up. Lets see... off the top of my head Femshep 1, Leliana, Imoen, Mira, Triss Merigold (+ about 50% of Witcher 1 girls), Kerigan (star craft), Lilith (borderlands), Velvet (VtMB), Blood Rayne, Sorceress (Diablo 2), Rogue (Diablo 1)...i'm sure the list would go on and on, almost every franchise seems to have a main red haired girl. Plus in the ME character creator we have about 4 shades of red. Red hair is quite uncommon in real life.

That’s what bothers me. You can call this second round “fair” all you want, but in reality it is fair only for a number of people.

What about the folks who voted for blonde (color) but would rather have it in a different hairstyle? Do they not deserve a second round as well? Why, because they didn’t bug the hell out of the Devs on Twitter? How is that fair?

What about those who loved #1 and #6’s face, but thought the hair sucked. Or those who liked #4’s face and her darker skintone, but the “Rihanna” hair ruined it for them. And so on. It was never announced or even hinted that there would be a second round or that the first round was about the hairstyle ONLY. Had they known, would they have voted differently? Because right now they are limited to chose between hair colors, on a hairstyle and face that was determined for them by others – not the actual majority, but a majority of people who were vocal about what they wanted specifically - #5’s hairstyle, just not blonde. And that is really what this second round is being all about. It’s been reduced to that.

It began with: “What Shepard would you like to see…” and that result should have been final –brunette, asian, redhead or blonde. To have that turned around and the results basically invalidated over her HAIR COLOR – is what beyond stupid, and I will say personally, offensive.

As a blonde (and as a woman, and as a human), I can’t help but feel a bit insulted. If I wasn’t back then, I kind of am now. It was so unacceptable to have Shepard be a blonde that things had to be changed. And they have.

A certain Kim Richards (and her legion of like-minded haters - and don’t tell me they have just magically disappeared) must be mwahaha-ing somewhere. Like her “article” (cough) said, “DEATH TO BLONDE SHEPARD”.
Well, congratulations, Kim and gang. Mission accomplished.
