I like the concept behind this post. LOL

Even if I believe there should've never been a second poll, gotta admit this is hilarious.

You know what the best analogy for the BULLSH!T that is this 2nd Fem Shep Voting Poll is?

"Survivor - Outwit, Outplay, Outlast" In that game show. The last two people standing are determined to be the winner by all the previous LOSERS <_<

WTF!?!

And as far as those examples given of blondes in Mass Effect go.The only blonde you really interact with in game is a comic relief character: Conrad Verner. The lady on Noveria is a b!tch. So blondes aren't really represented in a glowing light by BioWare.

I really do wonder how come that is? :pinched:

Yeah, seriously. People are so hung up on how blondes were called bimbos in the previous poll - and I'm not saying that's right, because it isn't - but gingers get way more hate than blondes ever do. People hate gingers enough that Kick a Ginger day became a reality.

To me, it seems each looks a bit too "man-ish". Especially the lat muscles. Maybe its the armor, maybe FemShep does a hell of a lot of pullups, but whatever, it doesn't look very feminine. There is something refreshing about video game heros/heroines that don't have overblown bulging muscles.

Not quite there. But I do I appreciate you trying to sort of understand where I’m coming from. It’s a lot more than can be said about others since this whole fiasco started. So, thank you.

Getting into your example. You obviously felt strongly about the pixie hair. It’s a win-win situation in the way that you described. Now, indulge *me* for a moment: let’s imagine that #1 had won the first round. And there’d be hundreds of comments stereotyping #1’s look. “That’s a lesbo trucker”, they would say, among other things. Some lunatic would even write an article for PC Gamer called: “Death to pixie-haired Shepard”, listing every cliché in the book to explain why #1 would be absolutely unacceptable. Then a new poll is created, because some people claim to have voted for #1 only because of her face – but they would prefer a different hairstyle. Four choices are presented with #1’s face, the pixie-cut, plus three other options. And another hairstyle wins. That’s more like what happened. And I would honestly feel for you and anyone else who’d voted for #1.

And it would be the same, for example, had #4 won, and people used the “N” word and attacked her (that’d be a lawsuit in front of you, Kim Richards), a group of people would make some noise on Twitter saying they voted for the hairstyle, but would like a different skin tone. New poll, Caucasian wins.

See, in any of these situations, I can’t imagine myself being ok with a second round – whether I was benefitted or not. I said from the beginning: I liked all of those six first options and would have been happy had any of them won, as I would had the default Jane Shepard be given the Sheploo treatment (that is, had this contest never happened).

It’s just the way this second round came to be and the way it was handled, blows – that’s how I feel. Despite Bioware's best of intentions, I’m not calling conspiracy theories here, still, doesn’t make it right. It was handled very poorly.

As a side note – I’ll probably have to customize my Shepard anyways, since they announced they’ve gotten the tech for longer hair, I’ve been the most excited about that particular feature more than anything. I’m obsessed with Ashley’s new hair, and hoping it will be available at character creation. So it’s not about how I voted personally, believe it or not.

I have to agree with Tchones13 here.

This whole PR thing seems like a major farce by now and is making me more doubtfull of the integrity of Bioware than anything else.

I am starting to think that a major number of their actions or non-actions (by non-action I mean in the way that they adamantly refuse to defuse certain rumors with flat out statements) that Bioware is under alot more pressure economically from higher up than we are normally aware of. I wouldn't be surprised if the PR disaster that DA2 turned out to be for them makes ME3 into a 'live or die' thing for them, causing them to fluctuate as the wind in their attempts to appease the public in a futile attempt to appease everyone at the same time.

Aside ME3 and Starwars, are we even aware of Bioware working on any other big titles at the moment?

Really? I never experienced or heard any resent towards redheads in my life. I have heard people call them "fiery" or "sexy hot", though, which can't exactly be called negative comments.

I've heard alot of degatory comments towards blondes through my life, though, and it's almost a part of common language now without it even being thought off as being degatory (which it actually is) to call someone "being blonde" when they do something stupid or silly.

If the same people vote for the blonde, she will be blonde. The truth, I swear.

Oh wait ? It's seems that Bioware was right, the majority, the only thing that matter for them, don't prefer at all blonde shep. Now the pro-blonde are whining, because Bioware didn't respond to their selfish will.

Pretty much the opposite here. I can't recall many insults being aimed at any of my blonde friends beyond one girl being knicknamed "Barbie" but that was more because she actually resembled Barbie.

My red haired friends on the other hand... well lets just just say I heard them called alot of derogatory stuff like Ginger Nut, Carrot Top, GWAR and Fox ****** often and usually said by people who I'd not normally consider prejudiced.

Depending on the neighboorhood, that can happen quite often, tbh. When was the last time you heard a redheard being called a prostitue just because of her haircolour? It happens reguarly towards blonde girls in some parts of my country -.-

Your link is what I'd call stupid childcrap, though. It's not what I would call 'proof of redheads being bullied in general', but more of the same variety that makes random idiots post hatepages for whatever random topic they can think of. If you can think of a topic or subject, chances are that there is a hatepage for it somewhere made by some idiot. Doesn't mean that the topic/subject is subjected to hate in general, though.

The problem with your comment, from my point of view, is that I just don't see, nor ever have seen, any real vitriol or degatory comments being made towards redheads in real life. I've seen plenty towards blondes, though, or various pigmentations or systems of beliefs, but never towards redheads, ravenhaired or brunettes.

Here is the problem.

During the first poll, everyone voted for the one they wanted most. #5 was winning obviously and it didn't take long until the name calling started. "Barbie", "Pornstar", "Sexsymbol", "Blondes are stupid", even "The hairstyle is impractical during the firefight." Nothing helped, #5 won. Of course everyone else was mad. And it's all Barbies fault. "If it weren't for that wet dream of a 15 year old, we would have won, right? Must have been the hairstyle."

BioWare has listened and voila, here your second poll. Every femshep gets a second chance, but with the same hairstyle. Everyone? Sadly not #1 and #2 are back, but #3, #4 and #6 weren't. Does that sound fair to you? #3 and #4 had more votes than #1 and #2, yet their supporters are not able to vote for them anymore. So what is the alternative? Make sure that the one who beat you in the first round won't survive the second round. It's not vote for the one you want anymore. It's vote against the one who is a thorn in your side. Some people even called it by the name in facebook. "Anything but blonde." they said.

The poll is not neutral anymore. They've got a second chance and they won't let one who beat them walk away, especially not as a winner.

Well, those that won the initial poll, well the second initial poll as there was one on twitter that had many vote for red hair, while maintaining that others "deal with it" and at the same time told said others to lose gracefully didn't win gracefully either.  LPPrince and others threw out and reposted those "deal with it" pics so fast.  All this in spite of the fact that LPPrince, himself, was performing the act of "rubbing it in" which was contrary to a post he made in response to another to not rub it in.  I mean, you reap what you sow at this point.  That's no one's fault but your own.

No, people made "Deal With It" banners because of the MASS hatred the blonde hair was getting. We have 4+ hate articles, all the blonde stereotypes in the world were usesd, and bunch of other stupid hate comments about blondes, to back that fact up. Doesn't matter anyway, with this new contest Bioware caved to a bunch of hatred and bullies.

'No' what?  I have no idea what you're disagreeing against.

Just for the record, the "Deal with it" banners may have been made after the blond stereotypes became overabundant, but the actual pic was made two days into the polling around the 14k mark for #5 and by one person who said he'd spam it (he later made the "deal with it banner" with the high res shot that was miniaturized and used in the banners) .  Seeing as #5 topped out at 30k I would say that it was pretty presumptuous to do such a thing considering how close #3 and #4 are to that number now (also considering that by my estimate it was about 7 days before a clear winner was decided and it was done on a thread that's 114 pages long - post came in on page 29).  So I stand by what I said.

I'm starting to think this is a very regional thing, tbh, and not something that can be claimed as a "generic rule of appliance".

Supposedly, black eyebrows on a redhead is fine but on a blonde its a travesty.

I still have issue with this.

My main problem with blonde Shepard was not that she was blonde, but that she looked like a "dye job". If they had made her eyebrows match with her hair (like BSG's Kara Thrace), then I would have accepted her; and I have that same problem now with redhead Shepard (I fail to understand why this is so difficult to fix, since it can be done with the in game CC).

That said, as my avatar shows, I am a dark haired fan, so I voted for raven haired Shepard because I feel it all "fits into place" better (though, my TRUE preference was Shepard #1 from the first set of votes).

Hahaha ! The good old days. :o There are still plenty of examples that can be shown, if necessary.

Some People have simply said they would have preferred a different color and they were attacked.

Some have simply asked for options. The pro-blonde have responded aggressively and contemptuously. Telling them that Bioware had no time and no resources to lose, if they were not happy, they used CC shepard. NO, ther others didn"t have the right to ask for options, deal with it, even IF MYSELF I AM SATISFIED with femshep preset 5.

Not forgetting of course the famous. DEAL WITH IT,  to make fun of others.

Yeah ! The good old days !

Now, deal with it ! ;)

I wanted only one preset, she's not there. So, yeah, deal with it.

I voted for brunette among the six haircolor choices, it's redhead who is winning, I am an eternal looser.

Now, even the pro-blonde, will learn. :P
