The thing is you see almost entirely no blondes in the game to be honest but you will see some blue eye people.

Eh, I can think of 2 off hand.

Kaira Stirling -

and everyone's favorite, Conrad Verner- http://masseffect.wi...i/Conrad_Verner

Gavin Hossle on Feros. Officer Eddie Lang on the Citadel. Jedore on Korlus. Eva Coré in the Evolution comics. Kate Bowman in BDtS is a reddish-blonde. Crewman Goldstein on the SR-2.  Bailey may have been blonde in his younger days, but that's just a guess based on his blue eyes.

Also, Miranda's intitial designs were blonde, and she even had a Scandinavian surname before they changed it to fit Yvonne Strahovski's accent.

I'm so glad that you brought this up  For there is a striking paralell betwixt how BioWare decided to use Yvonne's contribution to the making of Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect 2.With the direction that Quantic Dream  went in Heavy Rain; in the process of creating:

Madison Paige: Image IPB

Is a photojournalist living alone in the city. Suffering from chronic insomnia and nightmares, she occasionally checks into motels, as they are the only place she can properly sleep. She eventually finds herself involved in the latest Origami Killer case, conducting her own investigations. Her voice and facial motion capture were done by Judi Beecher, and her likeness and body motion capture were provided by:

Jacqui Ainsley

In both cases you have a real life blonde being transformed into a video game brunnete.

Now I suppose some could trump this up to artistic expression on the part of the Character /Game Designers... But when you have two entirely different companies coming to the same conclusion -- independant of one another. It looks like something else may be going on here...

They say,"Great minds think alike" -- (I say to that) "So do fools." Or in this case, it could be argued that what we have here is something known as Colorism <_< This "ism" does not just apply to skin tones. It can apply to other parts of the body as well. There was a famous experiment done on grade school children, years ago.Social Psychologist were curious as to how easy would it be to get a human being to view themselves to be supieror to another person. The school teacher told the kids in her class that, "boys and girls with Blue Eyes were smarter than children with Brown Eyes. :o Speaking with the authority of a Teacher. She made assertions without evidence. To the point where the school kids who were in the "smart eye color group now -- quickly started treating the other kids as inferior based on nothing but eye color.

I have no problem with Miranda as a brunette. But seeing as she has a twin sister - Oriana. It would have been cool if BioWare decided to pay tribute to the actress who brought the character to life in the first place.By making Oriana Lawson a blonde; like Yvonne Strahovski is...

Are we really comparing this to a presidential election again?

Alright if you want to do that, I'll give you my own "analogy"

This poll is like voting for Obama then voting for what color shirt we want him to wear at his speeches. Say there was a picture of him up when you voted for him and he was wearing a blue shirt in that picture, would you really be angry if people thought he looked better in green and chose that instead? Seriously, that's it. The other analogies on here don't even make any sense.

Also I think this proved that all references to presidential elections are really quite silly!

People are whining waaaaaaaay too much. A simple line stating "I hate Bioware coz they made me believe my blonde choice was set and done" would have been enough. Instead we have 78 pages of pain in here just to show how "unfair" the process was.

Really? Unfair?

I think it was great on Bioware that they did the process in the first place. And I'm sure I'll be repeating what many sensible people have said here, which is that Bioware understood quite well that many people voted on the blonde shep mostly because of her hair style, not the color, and when they repeated the vote, their assessment was proven right. Those who disagree with this logical viewpoint are simply in denial of basic statistics here: if the majority really wanted the blonde hair color, it would have won again. All the other theories on how blonde sheps were "mad" and so didn't vote reek either of childish behavior (and so I'm just fine that childish people don't vote: the vote result gets more "mature") or just a big conspiracy theory obsession on the part of those who believe this was a real factor.

Some nitpicky points, just to vent a little before I go away. It was claimed that by dividing the blonde shep was to diminish her importance and divide her votes, therefore she lost. Well, first of all the two blondes are really different. Second, this also happened in the first poll, remember? There was only one blonde and multiple brunnettes: I don't believe in this argument myself but if you are using it then you should recognize that this also happened in the first poll invalidating the choice in the first place! Third, RedShep is winning by *far* more than the two blondes combined.

Personally I voted first for a brunnette, because I thought that the blonde shep was too Final Fantasy for my taste. I'd rather just have basic ME2 "standard" femshep anyday. So I disliked both hair cut and hair color. This vote I didn't even vote. So you see that I'm pretty unbiased here. However I accept the result and will play once or twice with this new Shepard. I mean, it's no big thing, DEAL WITH IT

(Ah yeah I do remember the proud blonde fans declaring "deal with it" in every thread.... oh the irony!)

Yeah, apparently default FemShep will be a redhead. Deal with it. :)

Pink would have been even better though.

I must say, I'm warming up to the redhead idea. I think it's cool that she isn't a pure 'orange' ginger, but more of a brunette/dark red mix.

I've been watching the show Castle recently, and I'm really getting a cool FemShep wibe from Stana Katic who plays Beckett in the show. She has this sort of brunette/dark red mix too, and it works really well. Granted, Stana's hair is more brown than the red we will get for the FemShep, but still...

I usually play MaleShep all the time, but I'm thinking that I might give RedFemShep a try in ME3.

Yes she was, she was supposed to be blonde and have Skandinavian roots. Miranda's original surname was Solheim, Norwegian for "Sunhome". They changed it when they got Yvonne as her voice actress, to accomidate her Australian accent.

EDIT: Miranda's original concept art, also stating that her uniform was a deciding factor as to why she became a brunette instead of a blonde... go figure.

I guess you forgot about the thousands and thousands of whiners against #5. I actually see less of what happened before and the fact no one against poll #2 has yet resorted to writing 4+ hate articles about someone’s hair color.

Actually, since whinebabys from the first contest got their way I see less whining from them and now I just see a load of excuses why it was ok for Bioware not to hold true to their own words of what they called their contest. I might remind them now that Biwoare for all we know, could do this again. They already showed they can‘t commit to the first contest title. Whose to say they will for this one?  Heck, they could even go back to the original winner if they wanted too. I wonder how people from poll #2 would feel about that if it happened.

Oh, and I recently checked into the numbers out of curisoity because I’ve been seeing a bunch of people on sites I visit daily saying they weren’t going to vote this time around for Poll #2. I would have to conclude they must be keeping to their word.

1st place winner(red hair) is only ahead by 2nd place(black hair) by 6,386(as of typing this around 9:15ish AM)

I’m pretty sure at the same amount of days (or even less If memory serves me right) #5 the original was already 10,000/14,000 ahead of 2nd place. With a landslide victory in a few days.

And the others are only around 5,500ish votes each. That’s not a lot of people voting this time around compared to last. Due to many things I would presume(too lazy to list) Just an interesting thing to look at.

Oh, and I wouldn't be so certain to declare red hair the winner yet, It's Bioware, they could troll the winner at anytime

People who write hate articles about hair color are dumb. Don't know what that has to do with the vote, though.

Actually, since whinebabys from the first contest got their way I see less whining from them

Pretty sure that group never came in to this thread. I mean, they got what they want, so why come to a complaint thread about it?

I would shrug my shoulders if any of those things happened.  Because it's just haircolor

Christ, BioWare do something to end the complaining about the defaults, do something that is very rare and shows a huge level of commitment to their fanbase, and then so many people are complaining about them being unfair to them?
I prefered Femshep as blonde, which is why I voted for her. If the default is a redhead, thats fine, its still the default that I liked. If you don't like her, then why is it so hard to make a custom Shep?

I like it when people act like making her blonde is some form of social activism, that Bioware is now abandoning. Because we all know how bad white people have it, right?

BioWare should stop wasting time on trivial stuff like femShep's haircolor and actually start fixing up ME3! Judged on the gameplay demo's, ME3 is FAR from finished and the animations looked simply awful!

So BioWare, STOP WASTING TIME and start focussing on stuff that actually matters!

Seriously, who gives a f*ck what haircolor femShep has (except for desperate fans who have nothing better to do than worrying about a character's haircolor)?
