Why do I have the feeling that as some kind of plot twist from "absorbing" the Reapers' power or as a gift from whatever created the Reapers (if it still exists) Shepard will be granted immortality or something like that as the galaxy's eternal protector?

Which will go swimmingly till Inverted Yahg from the 5639th dimension arrive through a warp and eat the galactic core.

Shepard becomes a B-movie actor.  He stars in movies that flop in the box-office but become cult-classics.  He is then reduced from being the Hero of Humanity to signing autographs in a Galaxy of Fantasy convention.  Then a few years later he dies from multiple diseases, including scale-itch.

My Shepard would probably spend his time with his son (yes, my canon Shepard has a son whom is 10 at the start of ME1), reconnecting with him after the commander died. And he would probably take control of all of cerberus, murder the two other leaders (I'm almost completely certain that TIM isn't the only leader.). He'd use it in conjunction with Ash - whom controls the spectres, and Liara - whom controls the Shadowbroker bases to keep the galactic peace as part of a completely new joint organisation so large it could be considered its' own independant nation/group.

As for my main Shep. He'll get house on Terra Nova, or Bekenstein, with either Miranda or Kelly and make babies. Still not sure who I'll settle with yet probably Miranda though. He'll live there when he's not on tour.

My canon Manshep will chill...he will chill with his wife and they will enjoy their life on Rannoch living in the house he built for her...

My canon Femshep will probably help out with rebuilding the tattered remains of civilization in any way she can...

as for the rest of my Shepards....I dunno, some will keep fighting, my Manshep Engineer will probably open up a hospital or something, some will retire, and some will take up leadership positions...

My Shep would probably spend the first decade after the attack helping rebuild and police Alliance space. Then he would probably retire to Earth or Edem Prime (kinda bring things full circle).
