If this is a multiple vote thing then its the people who dont vote for their favorite ones fault, PERIOD. If they dont vote a 2nd time around then it more or less shows they dont care. Besides, why does this even truly matter? Change her damn hair color in the game or something. Mad about trailers and commercials?
Split vote for femshep round 2. Blonde femshep fans get skrewed. Sucks.

The first vote was not "discarded" people!. If you all pay attention youll realise that its the same shepard were voting on only this time we are choosing the hair colour. and you CAN vote for the exact same colour that you voted for the first time...there is nothing wrong with this! Its just more choice to players....no need for the complainig at all.
With the difference that is not the same Shep we're voting for now.
We're choosing between Fem#5 with different hair color, against Fem#2 with different hair style. So they just throw away all the people who voted for #5 in the first place.
People now is just voting for a hair color, not realizing that the redhead have diferent facial marks, eye form and eye color. How is that fair?

It is a SPLIT VOTE for the blonde. that is the point.
It's only a split vote if you are forced to split your vote. You CAN vote for both, if you want. Facebook doesn't limit you to one vote in the entire poll. It gives you one vote for each option.

Well we'll find out soon enough how mighty my clarivoyance is now wont we? You can believe what you want, but the reality is, this vote is pointless, its nothing but a means for BW to appease those who complained the loudest, without showing that they completely caving, because like I said above. Whose to say what is the deciding factor for anyone winning. Because if they were really planning on narrowing it down to individual characteristics, why not announce that in the first round. Maybe more people would have voted for 1 if they figured that they could get a chance to see her with blonde hair or red hair, blue eyes etc. Because they weren't planning on doing that, because this is nothing but cowardly appeasement.

I thought the original vote was a great idea that they wanted to get the community involved despite all the inevitable complaining that was to come. I should have known better that BW would cave soon as someone complaned though.
Never should have had a vote in the first place and just decided internally what default femShep should have been.

I did not vote the first time because I think it should be an internal decision at bioware. Having creative direction determined by majority votes is ALWAYS a bad idea. It created a product that appeal to the lowest common denominator of public taste.Zarathiel wrote...

It is the princiapal or disregarding the first LEGITIMATE vote. Due to complainers. It is like SPECiAL INTEREST GROUPS. They skrew the majority to get their way. That is how you end up with rich people paying low tax rates. Off topic, but it is the same idea.
What if this vote is invalid also. What is the official word. Either take what the fans say or decide for yourself as a company. This makes no sense.
Gore didn't lose because of a split vote with Nader. He won the popular vote, but lost the election, because of the inherent flaws of the electoral college system and because a large number of votes in Florida were declared invalid by the Supreme Court.
This is what's called a "run-off" election. A 2nd round of voting after the field has been narrowed. France has them in all of their national elections.
The first vote was not made invalid. It was made clear to Bioware by "the complainers" (aka, vocal Mass Effect fans, aka, the people who this contest was CONCEIVED for) that "Blonde femshep" won because of her hairstyle, not necessarily because of her hair color. Now they're having a 2nd round of voting so that they can have a femshep that is the most appealing to the most number of fans.
Also, you are just mad because your choice probably won't win. And that irritation apparently caused you to make a thread on the BSN COMPLAINING about the vote. So if this new vote were to get invalidated, as you suggest it might, it would be because of people like you.
Hello, Pot. I'm Kettle. You're black.
Except that this isn't creative direction. It's fanservice.

Ah, a "slippery slope" argument. OK, as it stands, this is just pure fallacy. You haven't established that it leads to anything other than what Femshep's gonna look like, and there's no evidence that it's going to suddenly lead to a new "FANS DICTATE EVERYTHING!" policy at Bioware. It's just irrational.

That would have been a bad idea. Then they would have had a proper sh*tstorm at their hands about picking a second caucasian character instead of going for diversity, or picking a particular non-caucasian ethnic background instead of another - and that would have been one storm they'd have deserved.
This way, at least that's not a concern, as they actually gave a quite diverse selection of Shepards for the community to choose from. That is a great move and a great nod towards diversity in video-games - even if nothing but another caucasian main character came of it.

Stop trying to be so condecending. It is not impossible. The default appearance of a main character is a HUGE decision. left up to the fans. How is this vote different than any other or more legitimate than the last one. It is frustrating that they EFFECTIVELY ignored the first vote. The exact model that got the most votes did not win. That is a problem and a huge flaw in the process. It is wrong. Yes, the EXACT model.didymos1120 wrote...

They didn't ignore anything. Had they ignored the first vote, they'd have said: "Yeah, we know that y'all only voted for #5 due to her hairstyle but secretely hate her blonde hair, so we took the liberty of taking that hairstyle and colouring it white, cause that's what you probably wanted all the time".
They also could have said "All in all, the caucasian models got by far the most votes, but since you disagreed on hairstyle and haircolour, official FemShep will now go bald. That should cause the least disappointment You're welcome."
But they didn't, they acknowledged that #5 was most popular. And yet, they also acknowledged that a large number of her voters seemed to actually want a more varied selection of hair colours.
If anything, this second round so far actually confirms the validity of that whole voting concept, because it silences all those who claimed that a facebook campaign could only lead to blonde-Shepard winning. Voilá, so far facebook seems to feel that other hair colours are more smexy.

Stating that the argument is fallacious is condescending? No, it's just pointing out that it's fallacious. Which it is. A slippery slope argument is only valid if we have any good reason to believe the alleged consequences are likely to occur. We don't.
This is all entirely irrelevant to my point about making bad slippery slope arguments. The default appearance of a main character is a HUGE decision. left up to the fans. How is this vote different than any other or more legitimate than the last one. It is frustrating that they EFFECTIVELY ignored the first vote. The exact model that got the most votes did not win. They will probably get complaints that redheads look like lobsters and have the same brains or something stupid like that.
What lesson did you learn that said not voting was the solution? Do not understand.

In any case, each of Red and Black-haired Shepards have more than both blondes put together.
I think that completely vindicates Bioware's decision to repoll. It's clear that the vast majority wanted other options than the ones in the first vote and now we can be much happier with the result.
