Oh god.

Look, the POINT of our arguing against this thread isn't because we don't support an ethnic Shepard. The POINT of our arguing is because we already have a Commander Shepard thread where we can discuss, post, and examine Shepard's ethnicity.

We don't need a Commander Shepard thread AND a Black Commander Shepard thread. We just don't.

As for the OP coloring on a femShep --

I wasn't offended by it. I also didn't find it funny. BUT I DID find it ironic. The OP claimed that the media was "white washing" protagonists, right before coloring (in a non example way) on blonde femShep's face. Exactly the same way "blackface" worked. If that's not irony, then I don't know what is.

The point was that he was (unconsciously, perhaps) being racist to the ethnic group he was representing. Had be done something like you, MissMaster, it would've been better. But he didn't. He did a cheap rendition of skin with a photoshop pen.

But none of that matters. We already have a thread for ALL Shepards to be welcomed into. We don't need a race specific thread -- or even a minority specific thread. It DOESN'T SERVE ANY PURPOSE.

The pity about the 'Commander Shep' thread, is though it started well...it quickly just became wall to wall pics of Sheploo, I lost interest and stopped supporting after pages and pages of that.

That is NOBODY'S FAULT but yours and others for not posting your own Shepards there. I try to post my Shepards there as often as possible (but not often enough to be seen as spamming/trolling). So do others. The thread is there for you to use too. Go ahead and use it -- or nothing regarding "racial equality" is solved.

If people want to post their own ethnically diverse Sheps here, then why does that bother you? If you don't like the thread - don't post in it.

Mods seem ok with this thread - or it would have been closed by now. And there are clearly people who seem happy to post in it. So let them post.

I'm not actually defending this thread...a multi racial thread can be interesting if done well, there's a case in point in the ME2 Forum, long lost to thread oblivion now though....Montezuma cut his/her own throat on this one, antagonistic and trollish from the start with both his/her threads.

As for my reluctance to post my Shep, the first time I posted him...some time back now...I was immediantly cruelly trolled by some a**hole....put me off posting....I have posted twice since in the afore mentioned multi racial thread and the 'show your Shep' thread in the ME3 forum...but tis' rare for me to post him...over sensitve girly girl, so sue me...:(.

Apologies if I'm parroting anyone, but can some one explain how exactly saying "You may only post pictures of people of X ethnicity/race and not Y ethnicity/race" is not racially discriminatory?

As a Bioware fan, forum member, and lover of the ME cast, I can only apologize that some @sshole made fun of your Shepard. They sound like a selfish pr!ck. That doesn't mean that you should worry about what they say or think.

For every one person who trolls your post, there is at least one person (as I can only speak for myself) who will appreciate a look into your ideal Shepard. Even if a post of your sparks debate, it means people are listening.

Take heart, my friend.

Unfortunately, this topic has pretty much derailed...

...time to give it a rest.
