So I get the following error when I try to launch the game:
"C:\\Windows\\system32\\d3dx9_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

Here are my system specs:
Processor: Core i7, 2.0GHz
Memory: 6GBVideo: GeForce GT 525M
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
I've tried all the suggested fixes for directX related problems, i.e. the ones for the "missing d3dx9_43.dll" problems. I also tried updating the video driver, then I tried rolling back to the 270.x version of the driver, all to no avail.
If it's of any relevance, DA:O runs fine on my PC.

The fix is described in the first post here: social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-II/Dragon-Age-II-Demo-Technical-Support/-d3dx9_43dll-Issues-WORKING-SOLUTION-6147820-1.html

Yes the file is "designed" for windows.  And a vaild copy is on the original distrtibution media.  But  the installation routine for it seems to fail with some system configurations.

Going to the MS site and running the "Update my DirectX" utility found there seems to be the solution. Posted Image

Yeah unfortunately that fix doesn't solve my problem, I've tried updating DirectX what feels like a million different ways, including the one mentioned in that post, and the update that can be run manually from the disc.

It seems my problem is different from the one everyone else is having. :(

Stupid question of the day, have you tried deleting that file, and then reinstalling from a clean download of the new files?

Yeah, I've tried deleting the file and running the DirectX end-user runtime, also tried downloading just the .dll and replacing the one in my directory with it.

Is it possible the problem is with my game disc?

Well, no.  Or rather, it doesn't matter if that file on your disc is bad.  You'd have replaced it with a "known good" version anyway when you deleted the copy on your HDD and ran the DirectX update routine.
At this point I'd say do a complete un-/re-install of DA2.  Posted Image

Yeah that was the first thing I tried doing, and I've done it again at least 5 times since. I even downloaded the game through Origin, still no help...

A few days ago I contacted technical support over the phone, and they pretty much offered the same solutions available on the forums here, but they said "Tier 3" technical support would email me in a few days to offer some more help.

If I ever do figure it out, I'll post the solution here in case anyone else is experiencing this problem.
