Sorry that but I couldn't post this in the general discusion about the toolset, it didn't allow me to make a new topic. The problem I"m having is that when I'm tyring to open a save file from the game (any save file) it gives me an error "Out of Memory" for the EditorGFF40 program (the save game editor).

I tried looking for solutions but I couldn't find any. Is anybody else having this problem or knowing a fix for this problem. I would really apreciate it.

System Specs:
AMD 64X2 5200
4 GB DRR 2 800MHZ Memory
Windows XP SP3 (Yes I know it is 32 bit and thus the full 4GB can't be adressed ;)).
ATI 690G Chipset Mainboard(Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H)
8800GT GPU
1TB HDD from Samsung.

It did happen to me a while ago (30min or so) i had just quit wow and tried to start it and the Toolset crashed. (Had to wait like 5min before it would even open after that) and then its crashed again. And then it worked :P

It seems to happen for me everytime, but atleast the toolset doesn't crash for me. Oh well I hope someone knows what is causing it or knows a fix. And if not :P I hope that Bioware will fix it with the next release of the GFF editor :).

When you open the savegame in the GFF editor, it works. But of course you have to have a keyfile or wait for the fix.

Let's hope they either distribute Keyfiles or fix it soon then :).

So, those of us who get the error, without this "keyfile," will continue to get the error until they fix it?

it worked for me the first few times without incident. then i did a spyware check and deleted some of the sql files. now it doesn't work. says it's out of memory. i uninstalled and reinstalled, but still no dice.

I believe the problem has to do with a bug in the way the toolset handles memory. Check out this blog post for a workaround (found it by searching the wiki):

http://social.biowar...1689/blog/707/.

My understanding is the toolset cannot handle anything that takes more than 3 gigs of RAM (has to do with them using Win XP to develop it). There's an app you can download that will allow you to edit some settings to get by the error.

If you are running Vista or Win 7 this may not work.

What's the solution to this? Why doesn't a large company like Bioware have modern computers with 64bit operating systems to create games?

In case anybody is still wondering, this workaround was successful on Win7 x64.
