I'm thinking about respecing my current game's Merrill to use Blood Magic (I've never had her use it before) I had two questions:
Do I just give her points in Con and Magic instead of Will and Magic?
Do the +.25 mana/health items stack? If I gave her a staff, two rings (assuming there are any) and an amulet that gave +.25 would it add up to +1?
The link in Suicidalboy's post above will in fact give you good answers, but I think this is a reasonable question that calls for a reasonable answer.
1. Yes. Merrill has no need of "Will" items whatsoever. Boost her Con and Magic first and foremost. That actually makes Merrill suprisingly tanky esp with her Dalish Pariah spells late in the game.
2. Yes, they stack. If you do sheparding wolves and try to spare the Saarabas, you will get a necklace that gives 0.25 which Merrill can wear. If you have the item pack, you get a ring for Merrill for another 0.25, and there are many staves starting in Act 2 that give 0.25. You can usually buy/find another ring that does 0.25 (Lowtown markets). Yes, these add up to +1. In addition if you max out Merrill's Approval, her Friendship bonus gives yet another +1 to bloodmagic. This adds up to a grand total of 4 mana per Ht point which is more than good enough.
