Several posters have wondered just what the difference is between veteran and insanity difficulties.  I posted a video where I did the Captain Enyala fight ( end of Miranda's loyality mission ).  I'm at level 22 soldier, with four shotgun upgrades, with the claymore ( which is the only gun I used for this fight ).  Samara and Miranda ;)

The veteran version is first, then the insanity one ( both together is 5.5 minutes long ).  In the veteran one a point blank claymore shot under Arush takes out all her armor.  Roughly the same shot in the insanity video takes out less than 1/2 the armor.  I always take out the other vanguard that starts out on your right first.  She is a lot easier in the first video also.

■Veteran - Bosses and sub-bosses scaled up based on player level. Most enemies have special protection

While playing on Insanity:

■All enemies are scaled up relative to player level. Bosses and sub-bosses scale radically.
■All enemies have protection.
■Bosses and sub-bosses have immunities.

thats basicaly what the wiki pages says

I wonder what this means. That bosses and sub-bosses aren't, say, affected by overload's weapon overheat?

Hmm. I'm pretty sure I see Enyala's weapon overheat at 4:00.

@ immunity. I think the wiki that was copied was from ME1, which had immunity. Under wiki at ME2 it says of insanity

Insanity
■The Geth Pulse Rifle will be available for pickup
■Almost all enemies have at least one extra bar of protection that is stronger than on Hardcore
■Enemies are deadly accurate and extremely aggressive, demonstrating teamwork and coordination
■Enemies use tech, biotics and ammo powers very frequently

@4:00 yes, my squad has squad disruptor ammo and it looks like Miranda hit her at that point, and Enyala is at health at that point.

Edit: Added "at health"

I feel I must add a side note here based on my experience and observations.  Enyala is equipped with a claymore shotgun.  Claymores will display the overheat animation, but *will* continue to fire.  Overload and disrupter ammo will not stop claymore-armed enemies from shooting you.

Hmm. Yeah, you can see her fire her shotgun while smoke is coming off it. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if non-claymore bosses can fire while overheated.

I think this possibly takes the form of increased resistances to cc effects moreso than straight up immunities. Eg: sub-bosses / leader-type enemies are basically only momentarily staggered by Singularity - only Heavy Singularity will effectively cc on them.

A very interesting thread this I must say :) I'm currently playing as an infiltrator on hardcore and completed Horizon last night. I'm not finding it that much different from veteran at the moment and Horizon was a doddle really. Does this mean that there's a big jump between veteran/hardcore and insanity. The only difference I've noticed between vstream and hardcore is that they all have armor or shields but are still just as lazy in battle.

I played the veteran version a couple of times to get one to publish.  In fact if you look at the video, I had a hard time finding Enyala in the veteran video.  When I tried to duplicate my Insanity playthrough ( did that first ) on one try at veteran, she retreated and I had to chase her back to the doors where the support troops spawn from.  Also, Harbinger on the collector ship trap, will spam his powers without almost no cooldown when you are very close to him.

In response to your question about hardcore, no there is not an order-of-magnitude jump between hardcore and insanity. ( thats why I did the video comparing veteran to insanity ).

^Right. The biggest jump occurs from Veteran to Hardcore. Hardcore to Insanity is kind of like Casual to normal. Insanity enemies have more health, but it won't be much of a shock if you have already gotten comfortable with Hardcore gameplay.

The only 'hiccup' I experienced was that on Insanity, Area Reave leaves 1 pixel of armor on Husks. Minimal inconvenience, really, when the whole game is taken into account.
