 Are there dialog benefits to bring Liara to find the Matriarch? Or even optional choice benefits like allowing Benezia (sp) to live or not, or will she turn on you for killing her mother?

Without spoiling, yes there is extra dialog if you bring Liara.

Yea, the Matriarch is like "Do you think bringing my daughter would really change my mind?' or something along those lines and when she dies it more heart felt with Liara and a bit of extra dialogue.

I am finding battles extremely hard with Liara, However I am liking the challenge, I wanted to make sure that my efforts of bringing her would at least result in something. I have been trying to finish Novaria for 4 hours. Ha ha. Almost there though. I am bound and determined to keeping the game play on hard.

I found the fight against Benezia an absolute nightmare when I did it too early on with a low levelled squad.

^^yeah, I am gathering that LOL, I finally finished it, only took 5 hours HA! But I never jumped down! I am rather proud of myself for not giving in to the temptation to scale it down. But I found the dialogue with her mother extremely unsatisfactory. BUT whatcha gonna do, I did it, so I can pat myself on the back. LOL. Wont be doing that again, I am playing Vanguard now, I did infiltrator on my first "mistake" playthrough. I am thinking I like Infiltrator better. I do like how Liara fights but really need a more combat hardened crew to balance her. And that I did not have.
