For all the talk of heroic combat and such I find GW2 looks much better. Not because of the graphics and great animations but because of all the freedom it allows.

and here is a look at GW2.

Hmm that actully looks good for an MMO, more like a co-op RPG shame it wasn't marketed as such and cross platform...I might actully have gotten it for my 360. I doubt my PC card could take it. Anyways, thats totally how I would picture KOTOR 3 looking, plus voice over and options? Hmm I think Wow might just get stomped now.

Something has to destroy WoW and I really hope it'll be GW2. Because I am drooling over that trailer, it's come a long way.:o

GW2 looks great. I'll definitely be picking it up as I enjoyed the first game, and this looks a lot better.

I'll probably be getting both. But man GW2 "raid" looks really good. I really hope that isn't the best Bioware can come up with.

Both look good but I'll wait and see. I've rushed into too many MMOs in the past. I didn't like the first Guild Wars. The combat bored me to quit. 2 looks much better though.

To be fair that's a dynamic event in GW2, not a raid. I imagine most developers would shy away from 50+ player boss fights, but it means you can do a lot more in terms of mechanics, and there's only so much an 8 player team could handle. Plus, wasn't that SWTOR demo going to be open to attendees? Could be they just didn't want groups constantly wiping. Or maybe it's just because it's the first boss in the game.

I am a bit worried about SWTOR though. I know we've not seen much of raiding but have we seen any interesting boss mechanics yet?

Still, I have faith, and my TOR CE pre-order's already registered. I'll probably try GW2 just to see how it plays but I don't like playing more than one MMO at a time, and I'm anticipating playing TOR for a long time.

GW2 = pay $50 once, never pay another cent

TOR = pay $50 for one month access, $75 for two month access, $90 for three month access, $105 for four month access, etc.

Nice and relevant, there..

I would add, however: "Oh, that item looks cool, how can I get that? Oh, right. Let me just get out my credit card.."

But that's for F2P games Guild Wars 1 was nothing like that. You just buy it and that's it. GW2 is continuing that isn't it?

Bu I get it. It's why I'll never play F2P games.

Yes yes it's an MMO not a single player game like Skyrim. So you can't compare. Very different how you play and MMO requires upkeep and maintenance. A single player game does not.

I thought both GW2 is supposedly "buy-to-play", with no items to purchase, not "free-to-play"?

I was going off http://wiki.guildwar...uild_Wars_2/FAQ, which says micro-transactions.

Yea but that says cosmetic things so I could care less. Now if it was like say Lord of the Rings Online or Everquest 2 than I wouldn't give the game a chance.

My reaction:

Idk which one is better as long as WoW's iron grip on MMORPG is destroyed when these two games release. Nothing like a good competitor to keep your game up. If WoW survives this, I'll be pretty disappointed with Bioware and ArenaNet.

And that's why I love GW. No subscription. Sure you can buy items but that's optional. The only thing you would really need to buy out of necessity is character slots when you fill up the ones you start with.

I'd rather pay a subscription and know I have access to everything the game has to offer, either way. Not sure what I'd do with £10 a month that's worth more than so many hours entertainment, anyway.

But that's another topic.

But it's cosmetic ONLY, and that's good, many games with Micro transactions have overpowered items within them, where once you buy them you become a god among players.

SWTOR and GW2.... yeah I'm goin' for GW2.

Like I said before SWTOR is going to fail.

As for the killing-off-WoW comments, that's pretty stupid. Neither MMO is trying to "kill off WoW" this is not another Age of Conan or Warhammer: AoK, guys.

I agree, on the WoW killing part, nothing can kill WoW, only WoW can, which is what it's starting to do, just look how lazy Blizzard are, it took them 7 months just to release the first major content patch, also calling patch 4.1 a major one while it's just recycling the same old dungeons it had before.

But I can't agree on SWTOR failing, sure I don't like it, but I've never gotten a chance to play it so I can't really judge it.

wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Store

Look under the 'Upgrades' heading and you'll see how useless the majority of these microtransactions are. Most are costumes which obscure your armour anyway (I never bought any for this reason). Most of the other packs are simply easy ways of achieving things that you can do in-game anyway (unlocking skills and pets).

Also another thing I noticed from the GW2 trailer is how smooth all the animation is. It's probably higher than 60fps, I hope that the released version will run like that on an average pc.
