One day the magic will come back, all of it.

Merrill said that the Elves all used to have magic. So if the veil is unnatural and responsible for the dwindling of Elven mages then dissolving the veil is going to have the rest of the world crapping themselves, unless it affects everyone.

There's a thought, imagine the reaction of the White Divine if she woke up a mage one day. Think her head would implode?

Well I'm more worried about the sky and shadow tearing apart.
Doesn't sound like "yeah I'm a mage!" more like "omg we're all gonna die!".
And what Thedas is supposed to see ?
Apocalypse isn't fun , always comes with punishement judgement blablabla...

Doesn't one of the companions or an npc state that Thedas is the physical body and the Fade is it's spiritual/soul part? I seem to recall this, but can't remember where I heard or read this.

That's is what im thinking, but the "all of it" is the total unknown atm. I'm guessing it means the good (the spirits:Faith, Valor, Justice, etc.), the bad (the demons), and the ugly (whatever the hell the Black City is) of the fade.

The Magisters going into the Golden/Black City brought the Taint to Thedas and is causing the Blights, and that was just 5 people. Now, you should try and imagine what would happen if the Black City come phyically into Thedas if the Veil should fall, and the Fade merges with Thedas.

One day the magic will come back, all of it.

You can't get more foreboding then that.

Moreover, if Mages are able to walk in the fade within their dreams and have that connectedness to it, is that the source of their powers and if it is and everyone is brought back into 'contact' with the fade, would everyone be able to use magic like the elves used to be able to do according to their own legends and stories about the 'good old days'.

@Macro: Dreams can be used metaphorically for the part of a person that makes them who they are, given that mages can walk around in the fade in their dreams, you could say that they tenuously exist on both planes (their 'soul' in the fade, with them only being aware of it when they are asleep, think of the warden when the sloth demon traps them and their companions in the fade, their bodies remain behind and I think it was that the other guy's body died of starvation or something) so tranquility is basically cutting the body off from the soul resulting in the creepy monotone.

I'd be inclined to agree on the soul part (and indeed think I mentioned it as such in another thread) however the only problem with being that the soul is trapped in the fade is that the tranquils walk, talk, perform tasks and think.  It is probably peas and potatoes but if you subscribe to the notion of say, astral travel in R/L, then cutting the body off from the wandering part inevitably ends up in death, so I'm guessing it is something other than a soul that goes to the fade, maybe just a higher consciousness or such

I view the soul as what makes a person who they are rather than what gives a person motion, basically the light in the eyes in animes such which signal they are having a spiritual blue screen of death when their eyes are a solid dull color or that they are being mind controled.Robots can do all of those things you described but they don't have souls (the tachkomas from ghost in the shell not withstanding) and if you think of the hearts in Kingdom Hearts like souls and the souls in Kingdom Hearts as lifeforce, the nobodies are creatures without hearts (souls) yet they continue to live on but are only able to emulate emotions based on the memories of when they had their hearts
You could also think of it like when someone is called a 'soulless bastard'

It could be I guess, whatever it is though I think it definitely gets stuck in the fade but when there is a shift in the veil it can be reunited.

Thedas and the Fade are actually the same world at different points in time. Thedas being first, and Fade being second. When mages dream they actually travel in time to the future. Demons are the survivors of the event that transformed Thedas into the Fade and want to go back to their normal forms.

Well, there is my crazy theory...

That's quite intriguing, actually. But how would that explain how the Fade appears to someone like Feynriel in the Night Terrors quest? Are Dreamers able to manipulate the way the Fade presents its setting/internal events, and therefore you can get a flashback vs a flashforward?

It's pretty obvious that once the Mage/Templar war reaches it's height, the veil could easily be sheared all across Thedas. In fact this would likely be a major plot point of DA3.

Thrask said it himself. It's supposed to be Mages standing against Demons and Templars protecting them

It was like that for a reason, but has over time devolved into Templars watching Mages themselves instead.

Regardless, would be fun to look at the sky and see the Black City in the distance.
