Ok, hatchets =p Mini-axes!
Still! You can't backstab with these either lol. I really did like the weapons in the false beginning. And Isabela's starting weapons. I'm gonna go pout now. Me and the guy who wants longswords.
But can someone explain the mage staff? I still think it looks like two stuffed toy .... horses? Are tied to the top of a tree branch.

Rogue weapons look like Kama. Pretty sure you could back stab with those, just not with the animation Bioware uses for backstabs.
I think those are Mabari on the mage staff, but I may be wrong.

I just want nice looking daggers. Even short swords. Something that looks stabby so I can say, "I am Princess Stabbity! Stab, kill, kill!" Or something.
Ok so ... two stuff toy/mummified dog type creatures that may or may not be nugs or some sort of stylised mabari. Got it. No, ok actually I don't get it. What the heck?

Codex entries reflect in-game opinions and are rarely neutral. They aren't always accurate either, nor are they supposed to be. They are supposed to reflect the views of the character who wrote them. Clearly the ones about Loghain were written by someone who was either a Cailan loyalist or flat out disliked him.
The description that it was a betrayal was also in the intro to DAII (the king died, betrayed by his most trusted general, or something of the sort). I was kind of disappointed by that, because unlike codex entries that section seems to be portrayed as from an omniscient narrator.
Varric is omniscient?

say i just thought of an interesting idea...since you know Varric is the only one not able to equip anything other than accessories why not add some parts to Bianca to enhance"her"
