That's Biowares excuse for why holograms can be used as weapons now.

Awesome blade, will the awesome button be in ME3 too?

And it's an excuse I'm comfortable with, in exchange for a fun new toy.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing.

No, that's one guy's poor explanation when being caught unprepared in a live Q&A session. Bioware's actual "excuse" is omni-tool minifabrication plant mass effect technology mumbo-jumbo.

PS: tech armor, lol. But let's ignore that and call omni-blades lore-breaking.

The omniblades work just like a virtual blade would in "Pinnacle Station". Holograms working like solids is nothing new to the ME universe. The awesome button is the "interrupt" trigger.

They don't kill you in the VR.

Does the OP consider drones to be holograms too?

Lore breaking or not, it still makes no sense. Why can't it just be a laser blade or something?

In this case I can allow awesome though old fashioned bayonetts would have been cooler.

See how dumb that sounds?

omni-blades are essentially the same stuff as tech armor, just designed for puncturing rather than blocking.

When did 'because it's fun' become a bad reason to have something in a game?

Things that are awesome should not be allowed in mass effect, its catering to the casual xbox kids who play cod. There should be no cutscenes, explosions or space battles. In fact. ME3 should be redesigned to a text based adventure where the player must learn every alien language on his/her own.

Oh, the "awesome button" joke. Haven't heard that one before, and it's certainly not being overplayed to the point that I want to punch the butthurt idiots who are constantly hung up on it just because one marketing director used to say that.

Works for me.
.
And behind the idea of "awesome button" there actually a very solid idea that id meant to fix a problem common in RPGs. That was at least present in DA:O and was much less present in DA2.

People are just going to milk the "awesome button" for all it's worth, huh?

Tech armor, omni-drones, omni-blades and whatever the hell else they decide to create with omni-tools are lore breaking.

They call omi blades awesome, thus it's an awesome blade, goes well with the awesome button. I wonder what they will do next, awesome burger? awesome boobs? awesome pistol?

No, he said that Omni-tool technology is awesome.
Which is correct.

Do I need to post Combat Drone, Tech Armor and Shadow Broker's omni-shield pics again?

First off, ignorance is bliss I suppose. We have had a very specific explanation on how they work.

Secondly, they are there to give you incentive to actually stay out of cover.

Tech-Armor and omni-shield don't kill. Combat drone shoots energy to kill people. Not the same.

Except in the last VR mission were safeties are off.
