No, that's one guy's poor explanation when being caught unprepared in a live Q&A session. Bioware's actual "excuse" is omni-tool minifabrication plant mass effect technology mumbo-jumbo.

PS: tech armor, lol. But let's ignore that and call omni-blades lore-breaking.

Tech armor, omni-drones, omni-blades and whatever the hell else they decide to create with omni-tools are lore breaking.

They make the game, they make the lore. If they say it's a part of the lore, it's a part of the lore. Deal.-

Things that are awesome should not be allowed in mass effect, its catering to the casual xbox kids who play cod. There should be no cutscenes, explosions or space battles. In fact. ME3 should be redesigned to a text based adventure where the player must learn every alien language on his/her own.

The omniblades work just like a virtual blade would in "Pinnacle Station". Holograms working like solids is nothing new to the ME universe. The awesome button is the "interrupt" trigger.

They don't kill you in the VR.

Except in the last VR mission were safeties are off.

Except there's no blades there. =]

No, he said that Omni-tool technology is awesome.
Which is correct.

Do I need to post Combat Drone, Tech Armor and Shadow Broker's omni-shield pics again?

Tech-Armor and omni-shield don't kill.

You could always crush someones head '300 style' with the shield.:P

Tech-Armor and omni-shield don't kill. Combat drone shoots energy to kill people. Not the same.

Right, but they provided an explanation in the first game that made remote sense. In ME2 they just decided that there was no need to follow the science of the first game.

If the omi tool could turn into a blade, why has it never been mentinoed before or seen? It's just Bioware trying to please the shooter fans and making awesome things.

Are you failing to understand that barriers act essentially as solid objects, and that the bullets in Pinnacle Station were barriers, or is something else going on?

I can say I have played them now (Soldier, Sentinel, Engineer) and whilst I still don't like the looks of the Omniblade (regarding the Soldier's and Sentinel's at least) it plays fluent and is pretty much OHOK on normal difficulty (demo does only have normal difficulty, sadly).

But those are still "solid" objects that can bash and protect. Rewatch how the Shadow Broker was not only able to deflect fire but also able to use it like a smashing board.  If bullets and bodies can bounce off of this material, I think it can pierce too.

Well, if I remember correctly, they were suggesting, that omni tools could be somehow used in the bedroom. I think now we know how.

There are saftey measures to stop them from killing you. Remember how the last mission could actually kill you because the safties were off?

Because technology never upgrades beyond the original point, right?

Yep, they're as lore-breaking as the geth stationary shields in ME1. Oh wait....

Six months is enoguh time to turn an omi blade into a weapon when it was never mentinoed in the book that takes place awhile after ME2 and a little bit before ME3?

When did 'because it's fun' become a bad reason to have something in a game?

When it's done in a bad, tastless way?
When it's shallow and stupid?
When it isn't fun to begin with?
