Why should they bother with full customization when some people buy appearance DLC?

This is the tweet...
"Will squad armor be able to have custom colors like Shepard's?"

This is the answer...
"No, though there is a chance for alt-skins like ME2."

This does not in any way confirm "No squad armor" as the thread title suggests. OP is making a presumption and passing it off as a fact.

What's hilarious is that people are still responding like he's saying that there will be no squad armor, even though that's already been disproven a bajillion posts ago. Does anyone bother to read a topic before responding?

:bandit: I'm perfectly fine with Jack being nude aboard my ship, but she should get armor in combat.

So it appears that each person will have "casual" normandy only outfits (and we've seen Ashley's and Vega's), Then each Charachter will have "combat" armour to be used outside of normandy a la ME1, Shepard will more than likely have the swapable armor peices and several casual outits as seen in ME2

The squadmates may get more than one choice in armour (it seems like most would be happy with 2-3 armours) and may work like ME2 skins but are seperate from casual clothes.

Damn, I wasn't expecting full customization, but hoping for custom coloring. I'd like my squad to look uniform, not just random blues and greens.

This how I feel. Here's hoping at least that everyone has one "this makes sense for a battle in space" alternate costume. I won't be completely happy but I'll be appeased.

I hope there will be several skins for each character. And casual clothes while not on the mission.

Ah, hell, Phoenix Armors everyone!!!!

While we won't see substantially different "looks" that doesn't mean that we can't do some armor customization in terms of effects / mods / etc.

And once again, the universe of Mass Effect is made to feel smaller. Instead of "wow, there's so much variety in the armor, it's like this is a living breathing world where manufacturers actually produce different products to use" it will be "this person's wardrobe consists of three outfits, unless of course I buy(with real money of course) some new software, then they will have four, which should they wear on this mission?".

Now, I understand that in Mass Effect 1 the variation in armor created a somewhat artificial sense of scale, they were mostly reskins with small statistical changes(shields, armor, etc). But why take it the opposite direction in ME2 and ME3, why can't we have more armours with more significant differences between them? Isn't that what everyone expected, isn't that how to make the game feel bigger(atmosphere, scale, storytelling) and make the gameplay more varied and enjoyable?

As long as we have an optiopn to put people in something that resembles actual armor, rather than Spandex, bulletproof tattoos, or whatever, I can live with that.

I'm just concerned that someone's going to be given a really silly outfit, and we'll be stuck with it because customization's no longer cool.

haha Jacob in assclown outfit V2

Jack not showing some skin would be a little disheartening.

Legion could get an alternate where he gets a little antenna on his head and he is all silver.

As long as they different appearances for different circumstances I'll be fine. I.E. I want Miranda and Ashley to be wearing hardsuits when in combat or a hostile enviroment and don't mind them wearing catsuits on the Normandy or 'safe' areas.

He said no there are customizable colors, but he never said anything about stats or different equipable suits.

sorry caduceus

gotta appease the new casual crowd and make more awesome buttons

hey show of hands, who would rather have the same body model for all characters and full armor customization (with proper bonuses) ala shepard rather than a unique body model and static (often ridiculous) outfits?

I would be fine with every squad mate only having ONE outfit the entire game as long as I could give that outfit certain kinds of stat boosts and upgrades.

Reading comprehension is undervalued these days.

Also title of thread should be changed to "no customizable color patterns confirmed for squaddies". Sorry Rainbow and Plaid folks...

I'm thinking that you'll be able to have squaddies wear any outfit in combat you like, even if it is silly.  If you can't stand the silliness, however, you've got full-armor outfits. I.e., the outfits will work pretty much like in ME2 and just be cosmetic.  Squad armor mods, if they exist, will apply no matter what their current appearance is.

Will Shepherd's armour get more customisable options than the ME2 armour?

I hope so.

Never thought that was going to be in the game anyway.

Would have been nice though.

Except this is hardly genuine confirmation - they were discussing armor coloration. We've got Casey saying there will be more to Squad armor then what we had in ME2.
