Great!! gives me hope I wont have to play dressup with my squad and put the best armor on them so they all look the same. I was worried it would end up like me1 where everyone was wearing colossus, I support unique squad outfits.

Yay, Now they can spend more resources on combat and gameplay instead of fulfilling some nerd's fantasy of Barbie Dress Up: Squad Edition.

Garrus: "Goddamit Shep! That's not my armour!"
Shep: "Shut up and put it on Garrus! I want to connect.."

Seriously, though. I much prefer the unique outfits of ME2. Although, few more options would be good...

Don't care. I'm OK with people choosing their own damn wardrobe.

I'm not your mommy, squadmate, dress yourself.

I'll be honest. I don't need to customize my squadmates look. Sorry, they are all adults that can dress themselves. And besides. All they ever get is Shepard's hand me downs.

I'm more concerned about my Shepard's look than Liara's, Ash's, Kaidan's, Wrex', or ect.

Shep:  "Shut up and put it on, Garrus!  You've been walking around in that busted armor long enough!  Sooner or later a round is gonna get through a hole in it and I do not want to have to break it to the ladies of Afterlife that I let you get killed!"

That's how I'd picture it, anyway B)

And that hasn't been ruled out.  All that's been ruled out by the latest comment is that we can't fiddle with companion color schemes.  It's entirely possible for them to still provide squad armor customization in terms of stats without us having the ability to dress them all in matching powder blue outfits or whatever.  All they have to do is add a couple mod slots for squadmates into which we can place "+DMG protection" items or the like.  They'd just have no cosmetic effects.

We already have that. They're called research upgrades.

I'm thinking that you'll be able to have squaddies wear any outfit in combat you like, even if it is silly.  If you can't stand the silliness, however, you've got full-armor outfits. I.e., the outfits will work pretty much like in ME2 and just be cosmetic.  Squad armor mods, if they exist, will apply no matter what their current appearance is.

I would be cool with this.

I don't have a compulsion to customize the appearance of all my companions, and I usually like the artists'/developers' custom designs well enough.

I'm not really a fan of Bioware's current need for characters to have a specific 'look' when it comes to character's armours and not allowing me, the player to decide it.
Personally I prefer uniformity in my squad.

However so long as Bioware's designers at least try to be practical with their armour designs this time around instead of the god awful crap they did in ME2 I'll manage.

I don't care about customizing the looks, but I do want things like enhancements and modifications to their base armor. Sort of like Sheperd, except without the coloration changes and stuff.

Bioware just want to make more money. So they cut that part of the game and they will sell it as DLC. What can I say:

lol when you said enhancements I read it wrong and thought you said enchantments.  I was thinking of Sandal on the Normandy.

Oh, they totally need a volus shopkeep somewhere who starts off the conversation with "Enhancement?"

Not a big deal. Far more important issues to worry about. I always tried to keep the characters in their default armor style in ME1 anyway.

If I really feel the need to play dressup, I'll thieve the dolls from my little cousin's room.

I'm pretty sure that is the gay Shepard anti-hate photo. I'm going to stick with the don't ask don't tell philosophy here.

Not what I was getting at.  Research is permanent and applies either to Shep alone, everyone, or everyone with certain abilities (e.g. all biotics).  I'm talking about the possibility of having a more fine-grained system more like ME1's where you can pick and choose from a variety of upgrades that aren't permanently applied and that can be applied on an individual basis, only the "mod slots" would be part of the character, and not whatever armor they're wearing.

Hey just to clarify, does this rule out "casual" outfits on the normandy? Does it rule out "proper" gear in vacuum or poisonous environs?

I mean we have been told that Ashley is getting Armor, does that count as an "alt" skin? Much clarification is needed.
