  -SPOILERS ARE PRESENT-

The Exiled Prince. Dragon Age II's version of The Stone Prisoner. New companion and his own personal quests to go along with it. When you get to the end of the game, you are FORCED to choose between Sebastian and Anders. I have asked BioWare staff themselves if there is any way at all to keep both of them, even with the new Legacy DLC, and all have said it is one or the other. This petition is here to change that.

I understand that many players enjoy being forced to choose, they all have their reasons. Some kill Anders anyway, some never enjoyed Sebastian anyway, some just enjoy the inner turmoil of having to decide which one to choose. But from what I've seen, the majority of the community is always asking and hoping there's a way to keep them both. I and many others feel that is unfair to anyone who got the DLC, whether they got it for free with the Signature Edition or paid 7 dollars for it. To quote staff member JohnEpler, in regards to Sebastian, "If you refuse to do it, he's out and he won't be coming back." And he won't be coming back. I am aware that doesn't defeat the possibility of a return of Sebastian in future DLC, but nothing has been announced yet. I don't want to bore you to death with a super long novel detailing everything, so I'm going to get my main point across in as few words as I can.

Regardless of your opinions on Sebastian and/or Anders, to force a choice like that is wrong, especially to the people who spent money on the DLC. People buy the DLC thinking they're going to get a new companion to add to their arsenal which, while true, they are not aware that it pretty much kills your ending. Since I know it would be wrong and likely against policy to warn purchasers in the product description of what the DLC does with your final decision, many people have spent the money only to be given a false belief and in the end be disappointed, angered, and saddened. This petition's purpose is to get BioWare to add a patch/update to The Exiled Prince that would allow you to, say you filled certain criteria, have the option to keep Sebastian and Anders. By certain criteria, it could be anything BioWare wanted, but as long as you accomplished certain objectives, it would give you a "star" dialogue choice that would convince Sebastian to stay with you if you let Anders live and fight with you. This petition is NOT to take away the choice to kill Anders or lose Sebastian, but merely to add the option to keep them both, so that new purchasers won't risk being forced into disappointment, and people who have alerady purchased it can experience what it would be like.

There's no formal way to sign an online petition, so say what you need to say, so long as you end your post with "signed" or "not signed" and if this topic makes you angry, feel free to express your passion, whether you agree or disagree with this standpoint. With enough signatures, hopefully BioWare will release an update, or at least announce/add Sebastian to future DLC.

We can do this.

Some other dev did say that his story wasn't over many months ago.

Be that as it may, I give any employee the opportunity to announce here that you'll have a chance at getting Sebastian back as a companion in future DLC. Until then, I plan on keeping this here.

The only way i could see Hawke keep Sebastian (SEBASTIAN!!! Sorry, Neverending Story moment) while keeping Anders alive is threw blood magic. The Grand Cleric was the closest person (almost a mother figure) to him in Kirkwall, and i would never forgive or work with the person who killed my mother. Well... maybe if there was a doomsday device and the world was going to get destoryed if we didn't work together, but that is beside the point.

Plus, i usually side with Anders. A vengeful Sebastian (SEBASTIAN!!) getting together an army to hunt Anders down might make for a interesting story point in DA3.

I saw the threads. I've been scouring the forums. I've yet to see any official announcement. Simply stating that his story isn't over isn't quite enough unless it's true we'll get him as a companion. I don't want this to be some "his story isn't over, but you can only proceed with it if Anders is dead." kind of things.

I'm guessing Hawke is either an ally of Sebastian's, or an enemy, depending on how he handled Anders.

Exactly. Which is why if they planned on doing that, it would be understandable had Hawke never met Sebastian yet. But if they're going to have this Starkhaven DLC, they need to make it so even if you DO have Anders, there's a possibility of getting Sebastian back.

1) Mods don't like petition threads.
2) You got to play the whole game with Sebastian (well, 2/3 of the game), that he leaves at the end doesn't kill anything in terms of gameplay you got out of the DLC. That's like saying Shale was a waste because she doesn't show up in Awakening. Or because she will betray or leave you in a few circumstances.
3) Elthina was closer to Sebastian than anyone, it's perfectly in-character.

Or neither. In my canon storyline, Sebastian remained in the Chantry and never interacted with Hawke. He's dead.<3

Being dead in Dragon Age is like killing Jean Grey in an X-Men comic... they always come back.

If there's an expansion in Starkhaven, he'll probably simply not have been in the Chantry at the time.

Wow. Losing a character for the final, what, 20 mins of the game is somehow cheating you?

Did you feel the same way about Morrigan leaving if you turned down the DR?

What about Alistair, if you didn't kill Loghain?

Shale leaves if you kill Carridan, you know (if you tell her, anyway. And she attacks you if you kill him with her in the party). Is that somehow unfair?

Have cake. Eat it too. That's what this thread seems to be.

Urzon - It was just 'Bastion', surely? I remember wondering if it was his actual name or a shortening of Sebatian as he's never actually called that in the film (I was very young at the time)...

No, see, that would make sense.

Besides, then you wouldn't be able to have the man who's basically adopted mother just got killed in the destruction of the Church he holds dear, paired up in a merry band with the man who killed that adopted mother by destroying the Church.

I just want to have the chance to tell Sebastian that not only is killing Anders something that the Grand Cleric would not want but also that Anders WANTS to die and become a martyr. If he dies, his name becomes a rallying cry. Let him live, and he's got to live with what he has done, the damage and destruction, the injustices that his decision has wrought.

If I could kick Anders out of the party but leave him alive, but still keep Sebastian, I'd be happier. But I don't really have problems with the scenario as it is, just because it's another part of the major theme of the game - sometimes a nice, happy compromise just isn't possible and there isn't some magical third option.

Precisely.

The story is the story  - you make some choices, and that's the extent of your imput.  Each character should remain true to their motivations. Whether those motivations make any sense or not is another issue.

Who said about taking over Starkhaven? I'd let his brother rule. Or kill his brother too and flee. xD
