This game used to run fine a few years back when it cam out. Now I try to play it again and all I get are crashes. No big changes in the system. WinXP, GForce 9500, latest drivers. Does anyone even read this forum anymore?

"Latest Drivers", that's your mistake. You don't want recent ones, not for this game.

nVIDIA keeps most of the old ones archived. You want to back up far enough to eliminate special code for the GTS200 and GTX400 generations (the latter hardly can be used at all, and the GTS200 cards take a lot of special settings and tweaking to be able to use them ~ ~ and Radeons newer than the X1n00 are in the same no-go category as the GTX400s).
