Just to be clear for those who haven't heard the Q&A, BW's Mike Gamble said Cerberus is "Hell bent" on killing Shep and that the only way a pro-Cerberus player can ally with Cerberus is to get Shep killed in-game and not restart.

Ouch.

BAHAHAHAHA,priceless, imagine the threads if you have to put TIM down. Tragic. Hopefully they offer a reasonable explanation for fans of Cerberus.

There is none.
The only explanation I'd accept is a silver platter with the heads of the wirting staff and game deisgners.

That's pretty severe. You know they created Cerberus as well right?

Mainly to be villains in ME3, but still :wizard:

...you have to break the TIM's indoctrination before taking on Harbinger himself?

What if TIM is the primary agent of Harbinger, like Saren was for Nazara?  Moreover, what if TIM himself is a reaper?

If TIM is a reaper there will be a lot of TIM fanboys Seboist who will just die,and there will be many thousands of threads about it.

Would be pretty wicked though,Harby could get tons of knowledge, while being largely ignored.

I'm prepared to commit seppuku if TIM dies. The universe would be an empty place without the boss.

Bioware isn´t going to give such a big spoiler before the game is out. I still believe that shepard will somehow be able to side with cerberus, even if not directly, at least with their pro-humanity cause (this is what many renegade options are about). Perhaps taking over cerberus or just destroying it and using their resources in benefit of the alliance.

but nothing is reasonable to you unless you thought of it,so I'm gonna pull a you and say "I disagreee, your comment is invalid."

Oh ye of little faith...

@HG,I suppose you're right,it was meant as more of a tongue-in-cheek remark,to provoke response from one marshalleck, and seboist....

I dunno...  they may say its pro-humanity, but it doesnt seem pro-humanity.  They want to push for galactic dominance over the other races... knowing the Salarian's, they probably have a virus similar to the Genophage for humans.

Every time I see what TIM says, it just bleeds Saren.  "For the advancement of Humanity,"  or  the like.   I dunno... even on my renegade side I still dont trust them, because keeping the collecter's base just didn't sit well with me.  His speech patterns are just too much like Saren and Benezia.  "I wanted to lessen the impact,"  or , "For the good of the Galaxy."

As TIM says, "Its all there, Buried within the data."

Off topic:

And these threats of suicide over such a thing...  that's a bit extreme... even if it is people tryin' to be funn... it would be like me saying "if I dont get to see Tali's face I'll go on a rampage and shoot everyone I know!"

Just sayin.. <_<

@Dark,where did you come up with they have a genophage for humans?

Well,I wouldn't even say that, humans pose no threat to the salarians, they don't just keep a genophage database for all species.

According to Vigil, what was in the Citadel? Center of gov't PLUS all information on colonization, whatever, on every sentient race in the galaxy.

So what are the Reapers lacking? Information on all of the above.

Who has it? The Shadow Broker, aka Liara T'Soni. I would think TIM's goal would not be to destroy the SBB, but rather to take it over. Information is power, and the base contains more information and information resources than you can imagine.

What knows where the base is exactly? EDI. EDI even when unshackled is still bound by Cerberus programming. She will keep sending data to TIM. This is probably why the SA had to strip down the Normandy.

Agree with all of that.

What makes you think reper have no data?

For one Soveregin was around for a few hundered years, gathering data. For another, the Collectors were around, gathering data and making deals with the Shadow Broker.
I bet the repers have a pretty good image of the galaxy. What they wanted from the citadel was the super-relay and control of other relays.

Well, it certainly explains why you keep the asari with you. Because other explanations don't ring the bell.

Well, aside from the fact that it's just about impossible to have NO data (sorry, couldn't resist) there are still secrets. For instance, the Reapers won't want a repeat of the Ilos/Vigil blunder with the Protheans.

Humanity's had more than two years of warning of the impending invasion. While the official story is that there is no real threat, the Reapers would be idiots not to assume some intelligent life somewhere isn't taking precautions.

I guess it's like codebreaking in WWII: A perfect snapshot of what things were like at the start of the war isn't going to help you throughout it. The combantants didn't stop reading codes or collecting intelligence in 1945, after it was obvious the Axis were going to lose, either. Good intelligence saves lives and ensures success.

What they wanted from the citadel was the super-relay and control of other relays.

That's true, and apparently they won't have that -- making any other advantage they can glean all the more important.

===============

Image IPB .. That..makes no sense.

This is all pure speculation, but the theory goes that earth and humanity are hammered and TIM want's ALL the races to be at least as hammered as humanity before the Reapers are defeated. For instance, he doesn't want the Quarians left as a dominant force in the galaxay. They have no home planet and are, in theory, able to elude the Reapers for at least a short time (another reason the Reapers want the most up to date intelligence, by the way.)

If the Reapers have a key weakness and the Quarians -- or Geth, or Asari, Salarians, whomever -- exploit it and win too soon (in TIM"s view), humanity will suffer all the losses and the "allies" will reap all the gain.

This theory only makes sense if TIM believes he has an ace up his sleeve, a way to beat the Reapers, that he doesn't want to play until he can win the game for Cerberus/humanity/whatever. This would also be something he'd want to keep secret from the other races -- and something Shep needs to know.

I love this idea. Honestly, it's brilliant.

I've been racking my brain for a reason why Cerberus would go to so much trouble to revive you in the second game, just to attempt to kill you in the third. It doesn't make sense in my mind; as others have mentioned already, Shepard wants to destroy the Reaper threat, and that should also be top priority for Cerberus. Why not wait until the Reapers are defeated? Unless perhaps Cerberus has some information they can use successfully against the Reapers and Shepard is no longer necessary.

Still.... I can't wait to see what Bioware have come up with. If it's something as simple as "Oh, he's back with the Alliance now - can't have that". I'll be thoroughly disappointed, but this Shadow Broker idea is excellent.

On a side note, too bad you can't side with Cerberus if you so choose in the third game; while I completely understand it would be an extreme amount of work to allow for a Cerberus friendly playthrough on top of an Alliance one, it would have been thrilling to see what both sides could offer.
