The Black City

I now think we are reading way to much into how Corypheus worded things. He didn't really say anything that convinced me the Chantry version of events was wrong. He just doesn't address things in enough detail for me to come to that conclusion...not surprising seeing how he was, well, insane and blathering.

He was wondering how long ago the city turned black. Reflecting on his imprisonment makes no sense. He was obviously talking about the city at first, why would he change the subject completely? He was imprisoned by the Wardens long after the debacle at the Golden/Black City. If you take Anders with you there is an entirely separate line where he asks how long he slumbered. Why would he wonder twice?
I don't really know what it's like to be in a magical stasis for a millennium or two, but I can certainly see his mind going back to "seriously guys, how long have I been rotting?"
But I'm sure nobody is going to convince anyone. Think about this: They spent a lot of time polishing Legacy. And the devs, or at least David Gaider because he's the only one commonly posting, love our rampant speculation. I'm sure Corypheus' phrasing is ambiguous on purpose. Both sides of the debate think his wording supports their beliefs.

Something to consider though - Corypheus had some sentience during his dormancy. Larius speaks of his voice, as do the Carta. So if it wasn't the magister whispering sweet nothings of angst and anger, who was it? Dumat? Malvernis? Some spectral brontos?

See how I set your own kind to free me. They think to fight us, but they are ours, more than they know.

You were quite impassioned, though, in your defense of what good I could do mankind. Warmed my heart.

Of course. It's the taint in the blood. Darkspawn carry it. As do Grey Wardens. They are the ones who can hear my call.

Human, bah! I was more than human. I was a magister lord, first priest of Dumat under Archon Dedecorus! (Fine name BTW, Poor guy)

In Tevinter, we were gods. I will be one again.
So, was he really unconscious for centuries

I think powerful entities, mortal or otherwise, whisper in their sleep and cast the nets of their dreams far and wide, hoping to catch someone within them.

I don't think any of the myths are fully correct. The chantry version is partially correct but so are the other myths. I fail to see why they would write the chantry version as the only correct version of history.Zanallen wrote...

And that couldn't be the case because?
The Chantry isn't allowed to be right or tell the truth. Forum rules.

So we are no more than playthings to the game making gods

Of course only if Arlathan was destroyed not too long before they went to the black city... in fact.. that might make the idea that the dread wolf would be the entitiy that led them there to begin with. If he cares at all for the elvhen it would have been a very dramatic revenge plot.
