I've dl'd some of the DLC's from my account for ME2.

When I try and install them I get a message saying that ME2 isn't installed.

I start the game and try to install them.  I get a message saying that they can't install cause the game is running.

I close the game and copy them to the installation directory and run them and get the original error.  Is there a default install location that I need to copy the game too?

I bought the Steam version...

You need a Regristration Entry like this:

but i don't know exactly for steam version....
You need someone who has the steam version and this person can modify and export his reg entry for you.

okay.....
but goes on own responsibility!

Start -> execute/search
search for regedit.exe
then look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Valve
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Valve

There are two commands "Key"s (Folder icons) and "string"s (Paper icons)

Press Right mouse Button on Valve Key and create "Key"
Rename it to Mass Effect 2
Next, click Right Mouse Button on Mass Effect 2 Key and create"string"
(On the right window, it was created)
Rename it to "Path"
Double click on it and write the Install Directory in it.
(C:\\Program Files\\Valve\\Steam\\SteamApps\\USER NAME\\Mass Effect 2)
Close regedit window and start the installation of a DLC package
when error, reboot and install DLC again.

when error, delete Mass Effect 2 Key with regedit.exe
and create again BUT... create "Bioware" Key and then "Mass Effect 2" Key + string in it
and for Install Directory....
(C:\\Program Files\\Valve\\Steam\\SteamApps\\USER NAME\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2)

when error^^, send a PM to me!

Or try the picture in the link below:
Mass Effect 2 not being seen as installed equals not in the registry.
I know its in the old MIP2 thread but it should work.
