After completing DAO, should I replay or get DA2? I can't seem to be able to decide if I should buy DA2 now...

I played with Human Female Mage. Does DAO have enough changes if I replay with another character, say Human Female Rogue (Noble), to warrant another replay?

Play as a male, then you can canoodle with Morrigan.

DA2 is set in Kirkwall - in effect it's own little world. There are references and cameos from DA:O but it's not like the choices/circumstances will dramatically effect anything in DA2. DA2 playthroughs from different DA:O scenarios will be different only in small, if sometimes rather pleasing, ways.

That said, there's much controversy about whether DA2 is really any good. There are a few marked changes in style (it's a lot more action-focussed, for example), so it's not just more of the same. So for every person who says DA2 is the best game ever, there's another who thinks it pooped all over the DA series from a great height. I think in general most people considered it a slip in quality from DA:O. Personally I say it's still enjoyable and worth a play if you don't have your expectations too high. DA:O was great. DA2 is merely good.

Either way, you still have Awakenings and DLC to play before DA2. The chronological order goes Origins - Awakenings - Golems - Witch Hunt. Leliana's Song is a prequel and Darkspawn Chronicles is a standalone.

Get the DAO Expansion "Awakening" it adds 20-30 more hours to your game.
Afterwards get the DLC "Golems of Amgarrak" and then "Witch Hunt" and then Dragon Age 2.

Refer to my thread about the full Order of events for the Dragon Age Universe.

*Edit
Ignore the above if you did the Ultimate Sacrifice. Your Warden is dead and you have to deal with that choice. You can only import directly into Dragon Age 2.

You can "retcon" your dead Warden into Awakening etc., if you really want to. (I didn't)

Back to the OP's question:

Absolutely.

AFAIAC, as of now I've completed the original campaign four times over, and just started a fifth Origin. (There seem to be people who've played the OC a dozen times over...)

The story does adapt to your different Origins; the way your character is treated, and also your personal reasons for doing things will be different with different Origins. And you'll learn more about many things that are only hinted at in the story that involve the "other" versions of The Warden, because this time they actually happen to you.

(It seems that the Human Noble origin is the Origin that the story was built around, as it ties in the most.)

Furthermore, since many decisions change the course of events, it's interesting to experiment around and see how things evolve differently. Some decisions do affect the course of the story quite strongly, if not the outcome (Blight ended).

Yes but this removes the Ultimate Sacrifice Flag and places the Dark Ritual flag instead. So it basicaly forces your Warden to have taken the Dark Ritual. This defeats the purpose of the US Ending.

The core of the game remains similar. The inital origins and subsequent endings will be different, although the determining choices on each quest line will change certain dialogue and some events as well as the epilogue endings.

As to whether DA2 is worth it, well its recieved some mixed reviews, to put it mildly. A lot of people hated it, the perception that it is rather poor and nothing like Origins seems to be the overriding sentiment in those circles, yet others have enjoyed it. Personally I hated it, whilst checking on other sites will show the same divide and negative response.

I'd recommend borrowing a copy, renting it, watching an couple of let's plays on youtube etc. so  you can try and get a feel for the game, the demo might also be worth it, but be warned that it remains representative of much of the gameplay, which is heavily combat orientated. If you are playing DAO on the PC then there are numerous mods which add a lot to the game. Personally I would'nt get it, I'd opt for The Witcher 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution or wait and see what Skyrim is like, depending on one's tastes

You are absolutely right. That's why I wrote "retcon".
