My biggest concern is whether or not all the sqaddies will get their story arc completed, as it is the last game in the trilogy. Especially in regards to Thane.

It's been confirmed at Gamescon that yes, all squadmate stories will be finished and the game ending will bring some closure.

Don't worry.

Nope the Reapers just jumped out of FTL right above earth, they have no use in pointlessly destroying all the Batarian-colonies.

Ignored, due to the Cannibal husk, which is made out of batarians.

And so it begins, they crying of the retcon.

even though arrival they were CLEARLY going to arrive in batarian space through the alpha relay.

If everything is a damn retcon why not just leave and go find another game to complain about.

The potential addition of multiplayer.

That would be a deal breaker for me, as it would suck resources away from making the singleplayer experience (which is the only thing I care about).

Whatever you think a retcon is, it's wrong.

Oh no, not like they're only porupose is to eradicate all life in the galaxy every 50,000 years. No, and the huskified batarians at the start of the game ar no indication of that.

There point is to harverest the populations, why would need to to bother with all those stupid batarian colony worlds and turn them into husks, that's not how reapers work.

They also didn't use FTL.

Yes, they should have.

It's right,

Retroactive continuity (often shortened to retcon) is an oxymoron that refers to the alteration of previously established facts in a fictional work.

Yeah, why would they need to create human or any kind of husks of species they have no other use for? It's not like they could use them to root out resistance where the big Reapers can't reach or something, right?

Oh wait...

It's their goal to wipe out all advanced life in the galaxy, and that includes the batarians. Right...

That's exactly how Reapers work. Even in ME1, it's strongly implied that Husks are Reaper technology. Turning people into husks in standard MO.

Okay, smartass. Point me towards the fact which says that the Reapers harvesting the batarians after entering their star systems is a retcon.

Because I think it's the Reapers' goal. The whole reason why they even try to make it into our galaxy.

I've actually thought about this a bit, and have some theories.

The Reapers are big. Really. Damn. Big. They're good for destroying big things, like ships and building and such - but people are small. People can hide underground. People can hide in places that Reapers can't go.

For that, husks serve a purpose. They're basically the fingers of Reaper, wiping out any organic being that might survive their more broad assualts. Kind of like a clean up crew. If the Reapers don't get you, the husks will.

The same reason Sovereign needed the geth, perhaps?

Capturing/killing the resisting forces and expose them to indoctrination or impale them on Dragon's Teeth and all that.

Same way as how the Reapers need to travel via Mass relies.

Yeah, why would they want to use ground forces to minimize casualties of the spcies they're trying to harvest compared to using their own weapons to annihilate everything?

That doesn't make any sense.

Pfft, why does the US Navy need the USMC,they have planes and bombs and missiles?

USMC is a retcon.

We don't know the exact mechanics, but apparently Dragon's Teeth aren't the only way to turn people into husks - it seems that they have devices which can do the same thing, like the Reaper device you find in that mine. Still, that's not a retcon so much as a part of the plot that hasn't been explained yet.
