VERY doubtful. This kind of customization royally screws up animations and cut-scenes.

That's what they say, I don't believe it.

Then explain why other games do it, but Bioware doesn't.  Skyrim's going to have body customization for pete's sake!

Saint's Row has it and it doesn't cause any problems with that game.  I call bunk!  I bet they just don't want to do it for some stupid reason.

Enter free-cam during a cut scene and you'll see how Bioware does it...you have characters falling through floor, teleporting. Bioware really likes to do clever and cheap camera angles which a body slider would royally screw up.

I like Saints Row 2 because of the different aspects of character customization. I never played the first one. SR2 has three different voice types for male and female. That, alone, I found awesome.

Hmm, no thanks. I really don't see Shepard as a lard-butt, or any other body type aside from what he or she has been in the last two games.

I do think that the scars from ME1 should come back, though.

I would gladly have body shape sliders. I would get a lot of joy if my Shep had a beer belly and be a very large to the point of almost exploding body type. Though I am biased in that I love things that go against the setting in games for humour playthrough sometimes. Like how I would love Shep to be a sock puppet in a playthrough.

Saving the universe but having to stop every 5 minutes to catch his breath or literally 'rolling' out of cover.

Dear god, if this was true...

Bioware, take my money.

Some people take games way too seriously, adding features for fun occassionally makes games more enjoyable. Would still have normal Shep generic buff guy or girl if humour wasn't wanted but ability to have some fun makes me want game even more if had it.

At the very very least, they made different models for MaleShep and FemShep, but used the same animations in ME2. That caused some problems, but nothing major.

Sez you. I for one do not enjoy hugging Liara plus the invisible seat cushion strapped to her back.

Clipping's not really the major issue, though. The major issue is that Shep has customizable armor. You know why all those NPCs have different, unique body types? Because they only have one outfit. Which means BW only had to build thirteen models; not a difficult investment in the least, given the returns.

Imagine the very simplest possible customization for Shepard's body type: no sliders, just a slightly bulkier build for soldiers/vanguards and a leaner build for everyone else. Suddenly, instead of two meshes for N7 shoulders, they need to build and store four. Four Aegis chestpieces. Four casual shirts, four lab coats, four life support webbings. The disc space taken up by outfits and armors just nearly doubled. The dev hours required just went up by about 50%.

Now instead imagine the system with sliders. The game would have to remember your slider modifications and apply those on-the-fly to any equipment you equiped. I don't know if the Unreal engine can even do that. Certainly all current objects in the game, including clothing, accessories, animated objects like the omni-tool and tech armor, etc, are defined independently rather than in reference to the parent mesh (much to the detriment of female sentinels, incidentally), and so they'd have to rebuild every model in the game from the ground up.

So the answer to the thread question is "no." Sorry. I'd like it too. :( (Though honestly I'd settle for a slightly buffer femShep. Those skinny little arms would break in two the first time she fired the grenade launcher.)

I'm all for total customization but this would not really function well. I realize others have stated this but I doubt an obese Shepard could do the things that are neccesary to save the galaxy. The entire character building system in general needs work, though.

For example, this is a tad off topic, but anyone ever notice that even at the darkest skin setting, Shepard is not very dark at all? This is a picture of one of my Shepards at the darkest setting. It's not the lighting of the scene or my television either.

What the what? At least it's been confirmed that we will get more options for hair.

^ This just reminded me. In ME1 Shepard can wear Light, Medium, and Heavy Armors. The visual effect that comes with those different armor classes are no less prominent than, say, the variation in body types among the elite military personal from the early 21st century.

I don't recall Shepard wearing different Armor causing any problems in animation and cutscenes in ME1,
