It depends on the situation, I will try to save as many as possible but if not then it comes down to which options will help me most against the reapers and which ones will allow me to save the most people.

Humanity as a whole will be put first (to be saved), much beyond that it will be about saving the maximum number of lives in the long run.  Well, the maximum number of lives of species that are not Batarians.

I'd save everyone I could and do what ever I could to get rid of the Batarians and the Vorcha so I don't have to worry about ridiculous poorly designed aliens in the game anymore.

From priority down:
  • Turians....A well organized species.
  • Humans...Despite all the carry on, I like humans.
  • Asari....A balance to Turian and Human aggression....hopefully wisdom
  • Drell....Seem a deepish species....handy archives if a great deal is lost in the Reaper war too.
  • Geth....Would provide a good balance to Government and encourage deeper questioning of our values.
  • Rachni....Just something so beautiful about their perception....song, colors, etc...
  • Quarian...If they can reach resolution, could be a valuable member to the Galactic community.
  • Salarians...Scientific genius's, but need a controlling element...they don't have the wisdom to utilize safely.
  • Hanar....Quite interesting.
  • Elcor....Mostly harmless.
  • Volus....Mostly harmless.
  • Batarians....Their similarity to humans grates on us...but I think peace with them is worth working toward.
  • Krogan....A very dangerous species, they will bite the Galactic community in the *ss again, I don't trust them.
  • Vorcha....A blight, a dangerous threat if another species organized them.
  • Yahg....A very dangerous species, much like the Krogan.

The Turians, Asari, and Humans are the "superpowers" of the galaxy so naturally they are the top priorities. If any of them fall the chances of succes against the Reapers drastically plummets. After them comes the Salarians and Geth as secondary priorities. The Krogan could be worth saving for their combat prowess but their numbers are few. The same thing goes for the Quarians because of their Flotilla. But every other race is expendable in terms of what they could offer to help stop the Reapers.

2. Geth
3. Quarians
4. Krogans
5. Rachni
all other races are expendable unless they improve the chances of Human dominance/survival post Reaper invasion.

Edit: Sword of the Star LANs end with Humanity on top

Anyone that is not putting Humanity at the top of their priority list is a traitor.

Context-dependent, will gauge the positives/negatives during the moment and save the most productive and helpful. Won't be guided by racism.

I have yet to be given a solid reason why I should give a **** about them beyond belonging to the same species.

The fact that it is your own species is everything. You can hope for a better future for yourself and your decendents as long as your species exists. If you species dies off, then all your hopes for the future die with it. If you value other species above the survival of your own, then you are expressing a very unhealthy self-hate that is extremely self-destructive.

Can't find what you aren't looking for...if you can't just use being of the same species, then the species is much better off without you.

Self destructive indeed.

All races die out sooner or later.

And in case you haven't noticed, humanity is extremely self-destructive as well. I'm merely letting the process go faster.

I'd save humanity first, hopefully we won't have to decide between humanity and alien species, unless it's just the Quarians because I personally couldn't care less. All the other races (especially Krogan and Asari) now that would be difficult.
