Epic fail....fans will see the da2 art stile and will skip it.
Adding to this da2 visuals are pretty old and subpar and it is unacceptable that a game planned for 2012-2013 (?) keep theese low standards.

[*]Hey! that's another point i forgot about.
[*]This is a mistake because it might hurt sales (more than DA2 already did), because if it looks too much like DA2, many people will just skip it, without caring about it.
[*]That's why this is a bad move.
[*]But we'll see, after it says "unlikely".

Pretty sad to hear that the art style is staying. I for one was unimpressed by it. Special mention always goes to the "new" darkspawn and how utterly hideous and mangled they are, and not in a good way.

Edit : I don't know if there's anything wrong with the visuals themselves, people forget the type of game they're playing sometimes. This was never a Crysis or a Total War game, nor is it meant to be a TES killer. I'll take a great solid story and memorable companions (and events) from a Bioware game any day over shiny visuals. DA 2 delivered on great companions, as do most Bioware titles, the story would have done better as a book, rather than a game.

There are no plans for a Varric romance, but if it something that fans desperately want, they will "see what they can do."

Varric has never even shown interest in Hawke, I personally don't see any promise, even in the base game... I just think it'd be a waste of BW's time that could be put into other things.

I understand that a lot of people love Varric, hell, it would have been awesome had he been an LI, but a romance DLC won't rack in the cash as it targets a small crowd. He wasn't an LI, it happened. Let's leave it at that.

And I want Varric as romance. He isn't whiny person.

1. How could anyone describe Varric as, "whiny"?
2. People already love the game, not my point. It would only appeal to a small crowd so there wouldn't be much revenue from it. Plus, recording a bunch of new dialogue to add in the game (if it was a DLC) which would cost a lot... just not logical.

Melo would love to see more of Isabela.

Future content will see the same companions and love interests return.

Great my worst nightmare is happening.

A good reason to not buy it then. Not only does DA2 have ugly graphics, it also has one of the worst art styles I've ever seen.

Well, using that argument Garrus and Tali showed no interest in Shepard yet became love interests. Varric is a classic example of someone using humour and affability to hide their true feelings anyway, and there is certainly a raport between he and Lady Hawke regardless of whether it ever leads to romance in DA2.

However, to be frank I don't expect to get Varric specific DLC that adds a romance either. The reason I will continue to support the possibility and cheer statements like that above is purely in the hope that they build it into DA3.

There is a huge chance that Varric will return as a companion character in the next game, with his status as being unkillable and his apparent closeness to Hawke, not to mention his popularity (on the whole). I don't know if there was more to the statement, but it certainly doesn't specify the romance be with Hawke anyway. ;)

This would also explain away his apparent lack of interest in DA2 anyway, whilst a DLC romance would be fiddly, expensive, and wouldn't jive with the main game without significant changes, having a Varricmance with the protag of DA3 would be simple enough and still (likely) satisfy Varric fans.

And beyond all that, supporting a romance with Varric is supporting a romance with a Dwarf NPC in general. Something I very much hope to see in DA3, whether it be with Varric or another character (SigrunSigrunSigrun).

F**K!

*Sigh* well, i guess i can live with that.

All of this sounds interesting...

I don't know how this is possible.
In 2-3 years - if they do nothing - even indie games are going to have better graphics.
Just my thought.

Well, I asked myself the question the first time I read, surprised. How this is possible. But, if they think that is useless to change, we'll see in two- three years, 2013-2014 what will be the results and if it's going to be effective among the public ...

Otherwise, I'm pleased with the news about DA2's dlc.

It's not a huge or important DLC. It's just "hey, new items". So it has the "opportunity" to launch with little to no fanfare.

why did they say "definite possibility"? why cant they just say its a possibility instead of trying to confuse us.

Art style is alright. Didn't care for Hurlocks or Ogres, but other than that everything looked great. Armor wasn't cooky cutter same look different color a la DA:O, which was the worst I had seen in a while. Weapons looked unique. Kirkwall had a lot of interesting art with the slave statues and such everywhere.

Don't know why people hate it so much. Really? Just the Darkspawn? So if DA3 has no Darkspawn in it will it be acceptable then?

Interesting information. Thanks for posting OP.

Personally, the lack of change to the art style for DA3 is the most dissappointing aspect. The darkspawn, elves, empty environments, and the modern-minimalist UI just didn't work for me at all.

Oh, there were some purty new elves thrown in. The darkspawn, UI, and environments* could do with a lot of work though. Perhaps the sort of work that was involved in thinking them up for DA 2, another 180?

*Not their re-use, but their "life", ie Kirkwall having a few more people(and those that run away from fighting, and guards that actually try to help you take out fake guards:whistle:). Throw in some ambient sounds like you get in a Fallout (1&2) town. Think New Reno's streets and casinos.

Still not very enthralled to buy new content for a near terrible game. Nor am I wanting to buy DAIII outright. I do hope they go through with DA3 being from the point of views of either Hawke or the Warden which would make them playable characters either putting them on opposing sides or the same. This is hardly anything to go YAY about. They still have to win me over and atone for that mess I played 8 times out of pure boredom during spring break.

Really? They are THAT shallow? I can't believe that. Never mind that I am sure they'll polish up the graphics and GUI. There just won't be anything RADICAL again. Other than this, wonderful news altogether. Thanks for putting all this info together.:o

If for Dragon Age 3 they give you more exploration, more choices, more refined combat, a better story and whatnot, does it honestly matter if the art style is the same? I think not!

Don't make me mention Celda.

Get rid of the art style for DA3.

Give us a toggle for full text and option to remove the icons.
