I'm also not really sure why people **** on the DA2 characters. They're just as deep as the ones from DAO and DAA. Hell some of the minor characters from those games have been expanded on. I would also rather the dlc's focused on your character at not the companions. It just feels weird controling someone you did not create in a Bioware game. If Hawke isn't the protaganist in DA3 then the last piece of dlc for this game better have closure which I can't say came for people who didn't romance Morrigan or didn't die stopping blight.
The fact that it seems that Morrigan's child is not a major plot point in the future is really troubling, especially after finishing Origins because it made you think it was.

Unfortunately, I can't muster up much more than a 'meh' reaction. I played DA:O, it's DLC and Awakenings to death but I didn't bother with DA2 because it was crystal clear to me from the first announcement that I was no longer the kind of gamer Bioware was interested in attracting. The blind faith I had in Bioware since Baldur's Gate has been replaced with 'wait and see but I'm not getting my hopes up.'

If you have a chance to, I'd suggest thay you try it. I am a big Baldur's Gate fan and did have the same opinion about DA II that you have now, however, when I finally played it I found out that there is some good in the game.
It certainly isn't a masterpiece and it is cleared that they sacrificed RPG players for a broader, more casual audience, but there is something of it I'd like to save: the story, while not heroic, is intense and NPC characters are extremely well developed for a not-so-rpg game. Dialogues are rather good (the voice actors are amazing) and the characterization almost makes you forgive the bad things.
Perhaps you don't want to buy it full price, but if you have a chance to borrow it from someone or buy it used for a low price, I think it can be worth it.
And I am just writing this because I had exactly the same point of view that you had, but my opinion changed slightly after I played the game.

Why? You already know what the fans want. Just say “multiple origins take too much development time”
· We will find out more about the Hawke family in future DLC, specifically, Hawke themself.
Vader Voice: Nooooooooooooooo
· There is "a lot of deepness" to Sandal, and we "might be surprised" by him in the future.
Are you kidding? He’s like the only really annoying character in the franchise. He’s the jar jar binks of dragon age.
· Morrigan is an absolutely critical character, and it is "very likely" that we will hear of or encounter both her and the Warden once again.
Me like.
· It is unlikely that we will see a huge difference in graphics and art style in DAIII.
this is.... BAD!

I'm sure there are some good points to be found in the game. However, with the homogenization into the Mass Effect formula and other factors that I won't go into, except to say the subsequent dev interviews I read in the months prior to release tended to be so dismissive and condescending towards the reactions of gamers like myself, it all left me with a bad taste in my mouth and no interest. I'd love to be able to borrow it but unfortunately, everyone I know who played DA:O didn't bother with DA2 either. If DA3 manages to lure me back, maybe I'll give it a try then.

It was a good panel and the content Gaider had put together was some questions for us hardcore fans (he had listed some of the questions as such that only hardcore fans would get)... we answered pretty much all of them IIRC
