At least pwnsaur made the effort to explain his position later on. Posting useless images like that is a more glaring example of trolling.

What a dribbling retard! This reviewer is emotionally as mature as a 4 year old who's throwing a tantrum for not getting his chocolate chip cookie on time.
What an absolute waste of time!

I didn't assert a "position" anywhere on anything...so I have no need to explain it.

Hey, did you have your thesarus open while you were typing that up? I applaud you for going to those lengths to prove your intelligence against people on forums. Seriously. I applaud you.

No, like I mentioned earlier in the this post I have an MA in English and I am a published working Op/Ed writer. I think it speaks more to your own vocabulary than it does mine that you would accuse me of needing a thesaurus to use words I became familiar with by 10th grade.

Pwnsaur, you're getting too affected by letters on a screen. You of all people should realise that. I'm not on anyone's side, I'm just suggesting that its probably best to bow out of this before either the thread gets locked or it just spirals out of control.

In fact, this is aimed at everyone. Stop bothering with something so damn pointless.

I'm generally a very neutral person, but this thread is fascinating. Review linked (O.P), was really a review while ranting, no reason they would have to be mutually exclusive, brings up valid points. I can definitely understand why people would get annoyed by the same complaints being brought up constantly, but also Pwnsaur is also correct the market is over saturated streamlined games.  /Shrug

Most interesting part of this thread is Pwnsaurs bluntness and aggressiveness, rare to see and kind of nice. I've been to the point where I don't care myself to feed illusions, honesty negative or positive would make the world a much better place, less people trying to play the angles, see people for who they are and what they want.

Hahaha, thanks. I kind of just said **** it this time and spoke my mind. If the thread gets locked, so be it. Sometimes it's all just a little too hard to mask my frustrations with those who seem to be steering the SS Game Industry directly into the nearest iceberg. It's all a waste of time in the end, as you can't fight the numbers and intelligence is far too rare. Whatever, at least I got out some frustration and made the world a less artificical place to be. If only by an absolutely infinitesimal margin.

Oh, no, I perfectly understood your vocabulary. But as an English Major I would expect you to uh, appeal to your audience - which are people on a gaming forum online that usually do not write like that and aren't accustomed to reading things like that on forums either. Not to mention it's generally considered bad form to inflate essays (or in your case a single paragraph) with unnecessary jargon.

I write how I write. I will not dumb down my text to appeal to morons. And you're reaching pretty hard if you're trying to infer that my paragraph was wordy or superfluous. It wasn't. If that's your honest opinion I must say that I don't envy your professors. Back to school undergrad.

I have the IQ of a dull pencil, but it doesn't take a persons intelligence to determine you like a game or not, or does it? Hmm. I believe people have the right to rant, Bioware (god bless them for all the hours spent playing their games) has a reputation, although no one likes to be 'typecast' not sure if there is a gaming reference or its universal. Certain quality and direction is expected and when DA2 was released it massive deviated from what people expected as a sequel, even the demo itself really couldn't prepare me for what I played.

Eh, I got up to the bit where he complained about the "real time" mini map (whatever the hell that means) which was in function identical to DA:O's mini map just with a different look and then wandered off.

I found this review to be quite ammusing, if as subtle as a brick to the face.

http://www.ign.com/b...-will-ever-need

Also DA2 = FF13? No. Just no.

I found that review confusing, he was coming off serious then he was coming off sarcastic, I couldn't tell if he was for or against it half the time.

Edit: Reading his last ammendment clarified.

Well, to be truthful, the options are not quite that simplistic. You have two icons for every color (Or is it three), unlocking several answers depending on the attitude you favor. Granted, I do not want to be limited to archetypes either. But I am quite fond of the idea of building a personality as time progresses. And people reacting to me behaving out of character.

I like building personality as I go along as well, in fact I am one of the few who like the dreaded 'Morality meters.' I do not, however, like it when my choices are marked with colors and icons because the game assumes I'm a moron who can't read nuance or sub-text. I want an adult game for adults, without all the hand-holding baby-sitting mechanics. I can decide what I want to say without a 'Halo' next to the words.. I mean really... What is this? Pre-school?

It doesn't take a moron to misinterpret the tone of text.  I can't remember the specific instances, but there were a few times in Origins when I totally missed the tone of the dialogue option I picked. When there's no body language to go on, really, it's quite easy to misinterpret things.  Not to mention people with autism or Asperger syndrome who might have an even harder time picking up subtleties.  You may think it was for idiots, but I appreciated it.

He hit the nail on the head, to be honest.
I have to be honest here, I lost respect for my favorite developer when I purchased DA2.

Oh, and I said it first RazorFist, the choice of hawke as the name of the hero was utterly, utterly terrible. Am I twelve?

You really couldn't support my argument for gaming being dumbed-down any better than that. I mean, you even mentioned people with disabilities! WOW! You are a very helpful person. Thanks!

btw - If you misinterpreted the text in Origins, my opinion is that you are a moron and should not be catered to by the gaming industry. You should be left to playing games that require less thought instead of making more intellectually challenging games sink to your level. Not everyone can get into Harvard, and not every game needs to be accessible to every imbecile on the planet.

This is my concern with the industry, it's exactly whats happening.  More intellectual games aren't given a chance to survive, people wont grow to adapt or love the games if they aren't given a chance.

I suppose as well, just like the music industry once a genre is over saturated (love the word/phrase) the genre is phased out slowly by something that is different.  I've noticed that rap has been getting phased out with popularity for more dance mix oriented music (I could be wrong). May depend on the region/country you live.

Note/Edit: I can't fault Bioware for trying to make money, it's what a company does to survive, but I don't have to like it either, haha.

Didn't read the entire thread, it's probably just the haters patting each other on the back for the same tired arguments while two or three other people (pers) defend the game as good.

Watched a few of his vids and he doesn't seem so much as a real reviewer as he's trying to build a character out of his reviews in the same way yahtzee did. The whole hate and hyperbole and swearing seems to be a part of the character he's playing at.

Don't get me wrong some of the arguments are good, but we already know them and have seen them before, both here and elsewhere. Honestly at this point you already know what you like or don't like about the game/franchise and you've probably already made up your mind on how you're going to handle future installments. Do we really need another back and forth reinforcing our own thoughts we've already made our minds up about? Especially here on this site where you're not likely to change anyone else opinion.
