I currently have the "Winter's Breath" (from the dlc, not wonders of thedas store which is only one word oddly in my eyes) but I'm wondering if there are any that deal more damage, I've seen one inclination about a stave in the mages tower, but when searching around I saw mention of dragonbone staves, considering I think mine is only veridium (sp) so it stands to reason dragonbone should be a fair bit better so just wondering if there is any better out there.

Thanks for that discobird, the staff I got from the wardens keep was the one I'm on about with 4.80 damage, I presume now my main character is level 21 some of the others will be dragonbone and do 6.40 damage.

Yeah, but I think those that do 6. + damage have to be purchased at a pretty $. As a mage for my pc, I spent the coin. It's worth it. I don't think one can make enough coin in the game to buy 3 or more legendary type items, but 2 is do0able. Maybe 3. Dunno. I bought 2. Plus upgrades for some of my key folks before final battle. shrug.

staff damage is based more on your own spellpower then anything else. its also heavily influenced by elemental damage bonus gear. if you've got a fire staff then it benefits from stacking +% fire damage gear. i've got a Torch of Embers (tier 3 version) hitting for like 50 points a shot due to high spellpower, staff mastery, and +% fire stacking. a tier 7 version of the same staff would only hit for like 4 more points of damage per shot i think.

the wisp is another way to boost spell power for an effective staff

metatrans has the right idea. My Winter's Breath staff consistently hits for over 40 damage per shot.
