Majority of people write about incredibly in depth sexual experiances with characters and well...I just find that slighty disturbing expecially when there was one about a Shepard on Legion FF....

A few names that should not be ignored when you're looking for non-smutty fanfic that does a really good portrayal of the characters.

First fo all, LuxDragon. His fic, Fight For The Lost, is an awesome transcript of the ME2 plot.

Next, anything by ElectricZ. His fics are amazingly believeable portrayals of the day-to-day interactions of the crew, and are not focused on Shepard, a refreshing change.

Finally, Things Worth Keeping by Urdaniel. A wonderful, emotional story about Shep and Jack.

Whew! Managed to get through that post without a shameless plug....

Problem is, most ME fics that aren't SI Talimances (Sorry, but I can't stand these! Shepard is already your own SI character, who you live in the ME universe through. Putting yourself in the game is redundant!) are rated M, due to the rating of the game itself. This means that the majority of the good fics are lost among the ones that focus solely on kink.

Yeah. Its a shame TWK is on hiatus, I was really switched on to the story. But, writer's gotta do what a writer's gotta do. I'm looking forward to seeing how he finishes it. I really felt like he understood Jack.

Hmmm the Fight for the Lost one interests me, since i have been looking for more fanfics that are novilizations of ME2. To me its a great way to see other perspectives on the story. So I will be checking it out later.

And I wish more FF writers knew about the Shepard(F)/Shepard(M) change - finding some of the older fave stories has been a hassle.

ok, that settles it. im gonna chew thru ME2 a few more times, get my canon down pat and start writing it all down. now that i know im not the only person with the idea im a lil more comfortable actually trying to do it, i just hope my writing style doesnt get in the way of a good story

I Probably find ME fanfics disturbing because I atomatically assume that if there fanfics "kinky" there probably a fat guy in there mothers basement.

Commonly know fandom fact: Most fic authors are women.  Especially the erotica writers.

There's one on FFN now that has me laughing. It starts with the opening going 'Warning: this fic may make you wish genocidal retribution against aliens,' and then goes on a grim-dark narrative about a reinterpretation of Mass Effect.

Man, you're missing out on a LOT of good fanfics by only restricting yourself to FemShep Garrus. If nothing else, you gotta give Gabby and Ken a read, you will not regret it, I promise you.

BTW, Crisp, thanks for the free publicity, but I'm not really the best at action stories. Assault Sloth is the best, but he only updates rarely.

Mmm. I'm just really picky lol. I was thinking about stepping outta the box and reading some FemShep/Joker, but I like to stay in the M rateing range and those are lacking. Gah. I just hate reading fanfiction that is fluffy and out of character.

I'm currently working on a Garrus/Femshep one my self.

Basic Forms : Rated M. Note the first five Chapters I was working alone on this with out a bata they might be a little, rough.

^ Yeah, Lorik's always great, provided the author can get him down right.

And I agree that once you get outside the smut realm or the overcrowded Tali/Garrusmancing zone there's some pretty good fics out there.

My current favorite story is The Beautiful Indifferent. It's what I would call a "nutrient-dense" story. 6 chapters, 60k words, and they're only just back from Eden Prime. Delicious story, though, with an interesting take on Shepard and lots of wonderful asides from different characters.

I also like unusual pairings, so Jack/Miranda in The Convict & The Loyalist (and its follow-up) is a lot of fun to read. As is Persistence of Memory (Liara/Miranda), though it will remain unfinished, from the looks of it.

The first decent backstory fic that I read was Tenth Street Red, which I love, even though it's been dormant for 6+ months now. I'd love to see other backstory fics.

I don't mind novelization fics (I've even had the inclination to start one myself), but generally speaking I'd rather read something that I haven't seen in-game. Some novelizations do that quite well. Others lift a lot of their material directly from in-game dialogue, and that's just dull to me.

I think this author is actually a published professional slumming around in the world of fanfiction it is far too good to be the work of an amateur or a hobbyist.  Right? Right.

I Probably find ME fanfics disturbing because I atomatically assume that if there fanfics "kinky" there probably a fat guy in there mothers basement.
