Actually if all but one Asari got wiped out I wouldn't care. The damned species can reproduce with anyone, and they live naturally for around 1000 years. Their entire species could be saved by just one productive individual.

I really hope the story isn't that basic, but I have a feeling it will be.

Well, it'd be boring if we saved earth right at the beginning, wouldn't it? After that most people would be like "Ok, I saved earth so everthing from now on is just a bonus" There'd harly be any urgency
I doubt the story will be as simple as I made it look in my post, but itd make sense considering the pacing. The people at Bioware are way smarter than me though so the way they get there is probably way more elaborate than what I described, don't worry

Of course, but I wouldn't go out of my way to save Humans first.

I admit, I probably would.

Damn, you guys sound like Cerberus. I think BSN really doesn't like the Asari tonight considering the other thead was called "Thessia must be destroyed.".

I love the Asari. I just realise that the humans are easier to wipe out first.

Not to mention that Thessia is only their homeworld, and that their colonies would have similar population levels.

Seriously, while it would be tragic if the Asari got decimated, they will be fine as long as they have one one person left alive, and there is something twitching left to meld with.

We'll leave Earth at the beginning of the game and later return to save it.

That's what I said earlier, and that is what it most likely will boil down to I believe, but I think Bioware's story will be more elaborate than just that.

I hope so. Then it would just be ME2 on a much larger scale.

Let's hope they don't pull a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and start recycling plots.

If it came down to it, ill save Earth before Thessia. The Asari can take the losses, humanity? Its a gamble that im not willing to take.

If Mass Effect was real I'm 100% every single human would answer with "no".

EVERY - SINGLE - ONE!

No-one in their rightful mind would put another species above their own in real-life. It just isn't natural!

I'm more concerned with the fate of the Galaxy as a whole over any one species, including human....how is that un-natural?...Your making too many assumptions.

I'd sacrifice the entire alien population to save a hundred or so humans.

For me its about the overall survival of my race, and by subset my genes. If sacrificing 10000 humans to save the Asari would ensure the future existence of my race sure.

However if sacrificing the homeplanet of the Asari would mean survival of humanity as a whole, then goodby thessia.

Now if you say that humans are going to die either way, but by saving the asari you save the galaxy... then I would save the Asari, might as well go out heroes.

Then all you would succeed in is destroying both species as a hundred or so isn't enough for a viable population. I'd agree with the others above and save the most useful species.

First priority is destroying the Reapers for good, second priority is saving as much of the galaxy's population as possible, If I have to sacrifice any races to accomplish then I will but I will do so as a last resort. Not going on any stupid power grabs.

Power? I'm in it for survival, I can worry about power later.

It's so tempting to make a connection with our politicians today, but derailing the topic like that would lead to lockdown within 5 minutes so let's not go there :innocent:

Not talking about you,  it is one thing to make humanity a priority it makes sense but there is a difference between making a humanity a priority and going on some power grab for human dominance.  Not commenting on what you want but what I have seen recently here.

I don't even know why people choose which races should be saved as priority? Try saving as much as possible people to beat the reapers and then see who is left alive after the dust settles. No need to start cherry-picking.

But, Liara states in ME1 that she is pretty detached from asari society. And she loves humans.

She would probably want you to save Earth.

So there are asari who'd look out for humanity after all? Keep your bloody rhetoric straight.

I acknowledge that there are humans who would place Asari interests ahead of Human interests.

I will not claim that these people are lying for some purpose, for such a lie serves no purposed in this context beyond trolling.

However, anyone who places another species' interests ahead of their own is sick. There is something broken in them that they have adopted a philosophy of self-destruction, which is the only possible result of philosophies that deem self-interest to be evil. The only possible result of a mindset that considers someone else's interests ahead of your own is the destruction of yourself.

This destruction may occur at the hands of a self-interested person, or it may be by your own hands, but the result in inevitably destruction, not creation.

Saving the asari because they're woman. Okay.

Anyway the Asari can breed with anyone and have hundreds of colonies. If Humanity loses Earth it's screwed. So Humans.

I'm looking at population numbers, nothing more. I feel no political affiliation with my species in any case; my genes don't determine my allegiance.
