 i hace mass effect 1 on my xbox 360 and have played through about five times, and have achieved level sixtie on my last playthrough.  i decided to play through on hardcore and insanity to get the achievements, so on my last playthrough i played it on hardcore.  so i went to the main menu after playing through it on hardcore, and gotten the achievement, and found my insanity setting and turned to it.  then i started playing, and got about halfway through the game, and decided to check the difficulty, and it said hardcore.  so, i quit to the main menu, and changed it to insanity. again. and then started the game over again, and then as soon as the opening conversation ended, i made sure to check the difficulty, and it was still on hardcore.  is it supposed to do this?  i have searched this on google, but found no reference to this.  it also did not do this on my hardcore playthrough.  should  judt switch it while i am playing, then not change it again?

Usually continuing a character will set it to whatever the level was in that character. You just have to switch it to Insanity before hitting the first beacon and it will still count as a complete Insanity play, provided you never change it off again.
