There is no update regarding high-resolution textures for the first item pack. The last word was given before the release of Legacy, where it was stated that they were still intended for eventual release.
There is no mention whether the item pack to be released on Tuesday will ship with high-resolution textures for the PC. I suppose we'll find out in a couple days, unless we can get Fernando on the forums sooner.

Legacy includes high-resolution textures for its content (for the armor and environment textures at least; weapons rarely seem to have high-resolution textures, but this is the same for all the vanilla content too).

Cool, thanks for the answer. Hopefully they'll shed some more light on the issue soon.

That's not actually true at all. I mean, it is true that the DLC items (including Legacy) are not high-resolution. But the high-res texture pack for the base game does have high-res textures for most blades (not sure about axes/maces/mauls). And it has high-res normal maps for everything.

I'm more than willing to read a list of exactly which weapons are actually using high-resolution textures (I don't always have a good eye for these on the weapon models), as long as you do the work of compiling that list. And that way I'll be able to provide more factual statements in the future. Everybody wins! :-)

I am not sure weapons need to be High Res but some of the two handed swords and staffs do look ugly when you zoom in. I can't see it being all that difficult to implement.

Of the 22 different dagger models, 17 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 33 different longsword models, 25 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 20 different greatsword models, 18 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 12 different axe models, 8 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 14 different greataxe models, 9 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 9 different mace models, 8 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 8 different maul models, every one of them has a high-resolution diffuse map included in the HRT pack.
Of the 22 different staff models, 8 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
Of the 9 different shortbow models, 1 of them has a high-resolution diffuse map included in the HRT pack.
Of the 12 different longbow models, every one of them has a high-resolution diffuse map included in the HRT pack.
Of the 161 different weapon models, 114 of them have high-resolution diffuse maps included in the HRT pack.
This is 71%. Some weapon types suffer more (staves and shortbows), but apart from those two groups, almost every weapon model has a high-res texture. And, as I mentioned, every one of them has a high-res normal map.

Anyway, 71% sounds great (but it's still far from your "almost every weapon model"; yeah, almost every one except for nearly a third of them?), except that "every one of them has a high-resolution diffuse map" is meaningless when I can't wield a longbow.
So for my mage Hawke, less than 40% of the models (for a weapon I can actually use) will be ones that don't look like a herpes outbreak. Joy!

Does that include the items that are actually useful (i.e., the Black Emporium and unlockable items)?
If they use base models (which some of them do), then yes.
But promo and DLC items do not have high-res diffuse maps, which is exactly my point.
When over 70% of the base items do, it's terrible that none of the DLC/promo items do.

But the inexplicable absence of high-resolution resources for a lot (yes, 30% is a lot) of the vanilla weapon models is the reason why I said to not expect them (not for Legacy and not for the theoretical update to the first item pack). So to say, I was trying to imply that any high-resolution texture updates aren't going to affect the weapon models, ever.
