*SPOILERS*

I think it depends on what you're looking for in a guy.

Thane
To me, Thane is the sensitive one. He's damaged, and widowed, and dying. Those three things make us want nothing more than to hug him and love him and make sure that he will never be sad again! This even goes into the romance, where he cries in front of you, and you can tell that he loves you.
Garrus
On the other hand Garrus is, as Jacob so nicely put it a "cuttlebone". Which isn't so much a bad thing when you consider he's this Turian who in the first game, was this tightly-wound guy who was still learning about his own morality. Then you die, and find out that little Garrus has become this badass vigilante who's got a hoarde of mercenaries at his back.

So that's my feedback ;)

There's no "Garrus vs Thane" for me. I like them both, use them both, often in same squad.

It's often either Garrus and Zaeed, Garrus and Thane or Thane and Zaeed if I need a squad without / not much biotic mumbo-jumbo.

I find Thane to be deeper and much more interesting from a writing perspective. Garrus, on the other hand, makes an awesome companion to wander the galaxy with. I often take Thane and Garrus with me on missions; they make the best combo!

Agreed.  They were my default team of awesomeness in ME2, as soon as I could recruit Thane anyway.  *wishes it had been possible before Horizon*

Commented on this thread months ago, but never gave my opinion, so here it is:

I prefer Thane in combat and Garrus in bed.

I prefer both in combat AND bed at the same time. Coitus Pugna Uninterruptus: The Three Guys Edition. Problem, BSN?

I like Thane well enough. I don't the general idea behind his character, but can tolerate him in-game. Garrus in ME2 was a good companion off ship, lousy one on it. Hope they fix this in ME3. I don't have to talk him to death, but... one conversation?

Short Answer : Thane.
Longish Answer: It just depends on what kind of personality you like. Thane has the slight bad ass but more sensitive, and Garrus has the 90% bad ass and 10% dorkish in a funny way. Like with his romance.
I'm the person on the more..sensitive down to earth thing, which perfectly fits Thane. His background story is amazing and heart-warming. While Garrus's is a funny..dorky but yet has the "just don't get on my bad side" type of personality.
Just depends on whatcha like. It is why some people don't like Thane/Garrus for there personality's.

Background: Thane, like I said, has the more..heart-warming,touching romance. And as I said. Garrus has the dorky funnish romance , but at the end he can show some heart.

But I was just drawn too Thane's, for personality and, well..his voice also :P.

Again , my answer is Thane as always :D

Oh, absolutely. Strictly individual personality preferences. I, for example, dislike sensitive men and could not stand Thane in ME2. In fact, after a while, I even stopped talking to him because he annoyed me with his sudden jumps into memories and the content of his dialog too much. :)

But Garrus... OMG. ;) Considering my never-ending love with straightforward, disciplined, 'go against the rules if rules don't make any sense' personalities, Garrus was the perfect choice. On top of everything, it is based on deep and pure friendship which - I believe - lies at the foundation of this relationship, not so much passion. To add to it a completely different anatomy, culture (writing him proved to be too much fun) and awkwardness, and Garrus/Fem. Shepard had completely won my heart. :)

So yeah, personally, I do not regret having no love interest in ME1 and can't wait to see what they will do with Garrus/Fem Shepard in ME3.

I love both. They go everywhere with me. and take turns on loyalty missions. Plus we three are snipers so we kinda rock. :P I have seen no hostility between fanbases.

Like most others here, I love my Garrus n Thane team, though Thane and Jack are rapidly working their way up the list (I've fallen for Jack's shockwave power. Was so useful on the Collector's ship. Till she died anyway, the reckless ****).

But I'm a Thanemancer. I mean I love Garrus. I find the akward beginnings of their romantic relationship so sweet, but I do prefer the strong, sensitive type. Which is Thane. I just want to love him and make him feel happy again. That's all.

I don't have an issue with Thane I have more of an issue with his idiot kid but between the two Garrus is much better.

For a character vs character thread, this is very relaxed.

I love them both in different ways. I think they suit different kinds of Shepards, I love both of their romances and characters. But I would say I prefer Thane, he has some brilliant conversations that really make you think.

And also, he's an assassin. And I always fall for assassins in a game it seems.

No vs. threads, please. We've already got threads devoted to both Thane and Garrus. Thank you.

End of line.
