My party just arrived at the party camp for the first time.  We're all at Level 7.  I have 11 or so gold and quite a few things to sell.  I want to buy a Tome of Physical Technique for my Rogue, which costs 22 gold 50 silver.  We're going to do the Broken Circle quest next in order to pick up Wynne.  I'm tempted to postpone buying items until I have enough gold for the tome.  Any advice based on your experience?

I use the Infinite Gold Glitch. I move the Blood Armor to Junk, press Triangle and Square, and it lets me sell it for twice listed value. i then repeat the process until I have all the gold I need.

"Press triangle and square"? I guess you are playing on a console. I'm playing on a MacBook Pro (with a keyboard and mouse), but thanks anyway. In any case, I won't use that glitch, since for my first run through the game, I want to experience it as the designers planned it to be.

Advice from anybody else, someone who doesn't use the glitch?

There are quite a few expensive items in the game (armor, weapons and tomes), so you'll just have to choose which ones you buy. As the loot gold depeds on your level, it can take a while before you can afford anything useful. I'd say go for the Circle, you'll get lots of free attribute points there.

i never once bought any overly expensive armor. most of my money was spent on tomes and poultices. by the end of Awakening, I had over 380 sovereigns. You can find all of the good armor in the game, so why waste money buying armor. Also, you can find good weapons without buying anything from a shop. just have enough money in reserve for crafting supplies and poultices.

Felon's Coat, the Rose's Thorn, Staff of the Magister Lord, the Spellward, Ring of Ages and Andruil's Belt are examples of powewrful (and expensive) items that many people like to buy.

To add to the list above... Evon the Great's Mail, the Veshialle, can't remember the name of the Maul right now. Sure you can find/create a lot of good things in game, but undoubtedly most of the most powerful gear in the game comes via vendors at high gold prices.

There's a Gold Farming Guide on the Wikia that's full of good tips to make gold. It's really a issue if you go to Awakenings. Crafting the best runes gets to be really expensive, and you also need a fair amount of gold giving elfroot to the elf representative to get to level 25.

Bodahn's inventory resets after your first visit to the party camp, meaning that if you buy the tome during your first visit, there will be a second one in his inventory when you come back next time. I usually buy the tome on my first trip to camp because of this. If you're not going to use gold farming exploits then you likely won't have enough to afford everything that's worth buying, though, so it's up to you whether or not you want to make that tradeoff.

true, but you don't need them. the game has so many things you can find. armor wise in Origins, you can go through the (for a warrior) drakeskin armor, then Cailen's, then Juggernaut, then armor of the Legion.

really when it comes down to it, its your opinion what to get, but you don't really need to buy weapons, accesories, or armor. making greater or potent health poultices isn't cheap.  :)

You really ought to just beat Golems of Amgarrak on Hard difficulty, then sell the Reaper's Cudgel for 339 gold when you load up your Origins file. It takes a great deal of stress off your shoulders, and you won't have to "exploit" anything (technically speaking).

Sell traps to the chick in Lothering. She buys as many as you make so you are not cheating.

Technically it isn't cheating, but it certainly isn't intended.

Selling the Reaper's Cudgel lets me buy 2x backpacks and 2x tomes from Bodhan. That's especially nice since I hate passing on tomes when playing as mage or rogue.
