Let's see if I can make this as easy to understand as possible.  I had mass effect 2 on my computer, saves and all. Then I built a new one strictly for gaming.  So I backed up the entire Mass Effect 2 file onto an external HD that I still have access to.  Yet I can't get the game to launch from that external HD.  I have the game downloaded through the EA download manager on my new computer now (or now Origin as they call it.)  Can I import saves somehow so I don't have to start over again?  If I can how would I go about doing that, and what type of file am I looking for?  If ya'll need more info just let me know

If it is Win7 look in Computer, local disk(C in my case),users, (User Name here), documents, bioware, ME2. You can copy the entire ME2 folder form the mydocuments in XP or from the same location in previous version of Win7 to overwrite this file and it will take everything from the previous game here including saves, bonuses, and achievements. Just have to make sure you have all the dlc added and you have to start the game once(iirc) before doing so. If you are only shooting for saves then go inside the ME2 folder and copy the save folder only.

well i finally got all the files restores problem is, i don't think they are in the right folder. is there a specific folder were .afc, .pcc, .bik, .usf these files go? I don't think they are just supposed to be in the main mass effect 2 folder, cause it looks like a mess :). plus logging into the game, I don't have a continue button.

I don't know which version of the game (DVD-Steam) your using but you can't simply move the folder to the new PC. The game must be reinstalled onto the new PC as it makes entries in the registry of Windows that won't be present on your new PC. Once you reinstall the game onto the new PC you can launch the Mass Effect 2 editor and then import your old save games using it to make sure they end up in the correct folder. If you use the default settings your save games will be located in this folder (asumming Windows 7 is Os)

C:\\Users\\Your user name here\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2

If you also what to save your achievments make sure you copy the Player1.prf file over to the new PC. It's located in this folder C:\\Users\\Your user name here\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile. Just overwrite the file that's there.

In the main folder where you installed the game should have only 1 file MassEffectLauncher.exe and 5 folders. Binaries, BioGame, data, docs, and Engine

*Note* These folder locations listed are for the DVD PC install. If your using the STEAM version they may differ as I don't use it.

Basically what MicroBell is saying and what I meant was there are two different folders named ME2. The first is the install folder usually located in the MY Programs, or Program Files section, and is the actual game install. The second is in the My Documents folder(user documents in Win7) and it contains all the saves and achievements. This second folder CAN be copied over once you have installed the game back and played once. Once you have played the game once(start and then exit after running config) you can copy the My Documents folder over the new one, or copy the saves out of the old one over into the new documents file. If you are trying to copy the Program files folder it will not work as MicroBell says.

Thats fine. It should install it in the default directorys so the files should be located where I indicated in my post.
