In the future, ethnicity stops being all that noticeable anyway.

Seeing how I managed to pull of a cute Asian FemShep... I don't really think having an ethnicity option is a must per se.

I would agree if Bioware would instead give us more options while also make it easier to achieve the desired ethnicity.

Why does everyone assume everyone is mixed?

It's only what, 170ish years into the future?

I THINK they "confirmed" (never know this early, right) that we will have way more options in the CC in ME3. :)

Oh, I hope so. I also hope that they make blonde hair seem more natural. Now it looks like you have spraypainted your head with yellow. XD

Being that Sheperd is a European last name, It's not doubt that Sheperd is mixed.

It says so in the books. For instance, Kahlee's blonde hair is explained as being very, very unusual since it's a genetically recessive trait and most such genes have disappeared due to the race mixing.

170 years is only a few generations.

There is no way the majority of the human race would be mixed by then.

1700 years yes, but not 170.

You can already do that OP they just need some better choices for instance all the asian eyes that are very asian look horrible the only decent pair just give shep almond eyes that aren't so asian looking. Each race has its own beauty standard BW should just use that ideal and make a few options off of that.

They have it with Fallout 3 and New Vegas so I don't see why not.

Because the both games have completly different CC systems? Not to mention characters in Fallout look awful, even more so when you compare them to the characters in Mass Effect.

Nope, Mass Effect's CC is pretty much perfect only thing missing is some better hair.

So your saying that Fallout characters look bad because they have ethnicity options?

no they look bad, becasue no matter how much you costumize them they look wrong and more or less the same.  hair is like the only thing that I found to be better in fallout then in ME.  even skintones in ME have a lot more visible range then in Fallout.  fallout is a great game, but CC is NOT one of its strength.

as for ME character creator?  more sliders would be nice, few more options for shapes and definitely better hair, but I beleive they have confirmed all of the above.  I've been abel to create pretty convincing racialy diverse Shepards as it is, I just miss narrower/longer faces, more options for cheekbones, etc - sliders that increase/reduce specific face part sizes, like in DA would be lovely too.

I agree.

With Fallout 3 (and all Bethesda games using that engine), the CC was a major weak link. I managed to pull off a very convincing African-American in FO3 with the shaved head option (Hated the hairstyles. And who wears a perm in a Post-Apocalyptic wasteland anyways??). New Vegas somehow managed to make the CC even worse if you choose to make a non-Caucasian (and don’t bother hitting the Random/Ugly Button…).

Mass Effect and Dragon Age both suffered from the same issue with hair, though a bit better with skin tones (a small bit). I also noticed the hairstyles seen so far in SW: TOR seems to be lacking in the ethnic choices (with the exception of one dreadlock style that I hope is not the ONLY dreadlock style), though the facial features look better and you can see more of an Asian, African, Latin or Caucasian difference.

At this point, very little if anything is known about ME3’s CC (don’t remember anything shown about the disappointing ME2 CC before its release).  And while I hope to be pleasantly surprised, I don’t expect a drastic improvement from ME3’s Character Creator, other than a few new hairstyles.

To be honest, in my opinion, Bioware should have had three or four male and female models that they scanned in high res (like Mark Vanderloo), representing various ethnic backgrounds, and have the player choose one. It probably would have made life much easier for them. And while I love my character creators, most of them tend to fall behind in many single player games that offer them.

I don't think that OP understands what 'ethnicity' means. Hint: it does not mean 'skin color'.

Although it would be kinda cool to have an explicitly Yat or Greek Shepard.

Works fine for me.

Edit: They could use more hairstyles though, especially for the women.

nah forget that, mixed people are the way of the future, more people like me yay! but i digress as for Shepard last name i think its pating homage to Alan Shepard the first American in space. plus the last name fits so well Shepard-Sheperd.
