I am wondering if anyone is having the problem of the Deep Roads Quest not starting.
I have played DA2 in Knightmare mode the whole way through. In doing so I am only left with 17Gold to get through it.
So Im Short of the 50G required to start the Deep Roads Quest.
I read that Bartrand is supposed to offer me a Loan of Gold to make the 50G.
Only he does not offer the loan.
I have completed all other Quests so I cant make any more money.
Its like its stuck the game has a bug. Does any one know of a work around.
I have updated to Patch 1.03 and still no good.
Deep Roads quest will not start.

Not Bertrand, but you should get a note to meet a dwarf at night to discuss a business proposition.

There should be a note on your desk inviting you to a business proposal at night in the gallows, I think.
Here you'll meet a dwarf (not Bartrand) but another dwarf that'll offer you a loan of 50 G.

If so I have already completed this Quest. There is also no note on my Desk Also in relation to this quest.
I have read on discussion boards on the Deep Roads Quest and not having enough coin, that Bartrand tells me about the Dwarf when I investigate in conversation with Bartrand then select "Why So Much Coin?"
He then then offers me the loan after seeing the Dwarf. Is this correct?

No, it is Friends in Low places, where you are asked to meet a dwarf name Dougal in Lowtown at night. He offers you a loan to buy in to the expedition and in my games the quest stayed around until I had either accepted or came up with the gold on my own.

O yeah, I did find that out from forums actually. I had forgotten about that.
Well then that's it right there. I have some how completed Friends in Low Places, I remember playing that quest and I remember the quest giving me about 10Gold at the time I didnt know why. I still wasnt over the 50Gold mark anyway.
I just think maybe the game has a serious bug in it. I have read things about playing DA2 in Knightmare mode and there being issues with some of the quests not working right. Guess I'll just hang back for the next patch with fingers crossed. Bit disappointed about getting this far and not being able to complete it though. There always going back to Origins I guess.

He actually doesn't give you gold, it is more a letter of credit. If you accept his offer, then he pays in your name, and you just have to go back to Bartrand to continue on.

Even so, I just dont seem to have been given the offer. I have been home, checked the writing desk and back to Bartrand a 100 times but still just doesnt happen. No letter and No offer of the loan has come.

Have you gone out at night to low town near the Fereldan import shop...ie where you got jumped by people looking to protect Anders when you were first looking for him.

yeah, I already killed those dudes. I remember that quest it was the hardest one to get through. I went through the whole of Low Town at night and killed everything that was there.

I don't think you can kill Dougal Gavorn and friends in act 1. If going to Bartrand doesn't allow you to start maybe you have another quest that needs to be completed first.

I checked all the Quests listed for DA2 with my Journal. I have checked and completed all Quests that are required to get onto Deep Roads. Also all the side Quests.

What about the rumors? Those turn in to quests and most (all?) have to be completed.

Any Rumours I have listed in my Journal are as far as I can tell completed. They are all related to Quests I have completed.

Well I suggest you find a way to give yourself 50 gold by cheating, you were supposed to be able to continue by now if you did Friends in Low Places.

Well, I tried the console thing and doing the script to add gold but I couldnt get it to work. I think becouse I updated to patch 1.03. In any case, I dont really wanna go to all that trouble just to play this game. To be honest, I think it is a let down compared to Origins, then to get to this stage a not be able to finish the game is really disappointing. Kinda like why did I pay for this game again? and EA support were not much help as they just send me here to try and resolve.
I think I'll just leave it and wait for Skyrim. Thanks guys.

If you have a save before you did the Friends In Low Places try and use it, reloading might solve it.
