Why did Wilson make the mechs turn on you and ****? Or why did Miranda think he did? Why is it that my Shepard can say "the Illusive Man better answer my questions" but then not ask him anything? I was hoping to get something out of Jacob, but he is just all "I don't know, you'd have to ask the scientist." And the lead scientist behind the project was Wilson. But then Miranda killed him, and it is never mentioned again. and once you're on your way to see TIM, Miranda starts asking questions, but then Jacob interrupts with "WELL THIS IS BORING" and takes away any self reflective moment we could have had for Shepard. And what we get is more running and shooting.

I'm not trying to nag, I'm really not. I love Mass Effect 2 for it's characters, backstory, and setting. Just not things like this.

I agree, the start of ME2 was very ... swift. When I finally got to the new Normandy for the first time, I remember thinking "what the hell just happened?"
As far as Wilson is concerned, the dossiers in LotSB suggest that he was working for the shadow broker. However, even there it does not get entirely clear what his plan was. It is weird that he would help to revive Shep only to kill him again right away but who knows, maybe the plan was to kill everyone on the station so the SB could give a reconstructed Shep to the collectors.

In any case, I agree with you that the beginning of ME2 could have used a bit more time and thoroughness (as pretty much every part of the main story arch if you ask me).
It has been complained about quite often so we can only hope that BW will improve things in ME3.

I understand that they needed it to be fast paced or players wouldn't be drawn in.

Because KotOR II drew out it's prologue, and look at what happened to that.

No one likes a long boring prologue.

i dunno, i thought it was pretty good, pretty spot-on. i mean when i wake up to someone yelling through an intercom that a bunch of mechs are on their way to kill me, only to find out i've been dead for 2 years and rebuilt using robot parts by a group i set about personally to destroy during my last campaign i like to get straight down to business, no questions, no answers just gimme a ship and i'm off.

Wilson's plan was to kill everyone on the base except Shepard, seal him off somewhere and then alert the Shadowbroker who's troops would arrive and detain him/her.

That or Miranda is really the Shadowbroker's agent and she framed Wilson.
