@Car: It's very sad that people can't be happy for others when they find love. I've experienced the same sort of thing myself over the years. I just take comfort knowing that they are the type of people who will end up alone and found half eaten by cats.

Pity it doesn't always last..
I met her a few years ago. We became very good friends. Then we couldn't resist the mutual attraction. I love her a lot, but she drives me crazy. We're going through a rough patch, but time will sort it out.... I hope... I don't think I ever want to have such feelings for anybody else.

Hmm from what I've seen most of us would stab another in the back for anything he owned. You have some good people, and I find its only those good people who are willing to bring harm down on those who arn't that keep most in line.
Love and peace sounds well and good, but at the end of the day, is it love that keeps you from taking what someone else has? Or in the case of some old couples I've known, they love each other, but in a "we don't talk much but like the others company sort of way." Or Duty to one another.
People that are all hugs and kisses, it tends to burn out mighty damn fast as that is NOT love. It is Lust. And lust never will last. And there are more important things than "Love" in life. Justice, Honor, selflessness. Love can lead to greed, mistrust. Its a start, but it is by no means the only foundation you will need, in life, or a releationship.
Love as you put it without convictions is lust.
Love without Trust, is the road to mistrust.
Love without judgement is being in need and the surrendering of ones will.
Love without Sacrifice is pitty.
It is good to have something you love above all else, cherrish above all else. But you must be willing to let it go, to protect it from its self, even if it makes you sick to do so. And it just might one day take your life so it may live. It is not a zero sum game, where you smile and float on clouds.
Who is the better person, the Soldier who doesn't know you, and is hard in most aspects, but won't think twice in shielding an innocent from harm with his body and life?
Or the hippy who is all love and happieness and treats all well but won't place himself in danger,all the while protesting for those like himself?
Which is really love.
All things have a duality.
