I want Bioware to rid ME of the class system, renegade/paragon system, and leveling system. All are limitations of how I want to play the game, and only decrease the amount of options that limit the amount of my play throughs.

Why not answer my question about the Garrus romance?

Luigitornado wrote...
With balanced limitations comes diversifications, that offer incentives for players to play a differently during their second play through. Once players realize that their choices do not shape on the game, then there is no incentive to play the game again.

It depends on the choices presented.  I know I have the choice to play full Renegade, but I won't b/c I don't like it.  I have the choice to play as a Soldier, but I won't b/c I hate the class...luckily there are other options.

I don't do hetero romances, so if that's all there are, I'm not motivated to replay.

I am not a completionist gamer in that I have to replay to see every possible combo of the game.  I want to play as my ideal PC.

Luigitornado wrote...
Not to mention that limitations in story -- including romances, gives Bioware the tools for a more compelling narrative with different reactionaries: Jack saying no to FemShep.

Yeah, that was sooo compelling.

The differences of the play through becomes null becasuse there are no incentives. Dialogue would stay the same, and the changes would be soulless.

The game is diversified by renegade/paragon choices and various plot points, not by the completely optional romances.

You want diversity by forcing it down people's throats?  LOL.

If they are into playing roleplaying games, then it will.

Hell to the no. RPGs are about playing the role the way the PLAYERS want, not the way the author wants. You have linear action/TPP/FPS games for that. There are quadrillion options in RPGs precisely for the sake of allowing the players to play as THEY WANT. Got it finally?

According to research *snip*

The point is that if you're talking about fairness, and what is 'deserved' or whatever, then look at real-world  demographics.

Nice try but irrelevant.

I didn't use the word 'fairness'. You did. I didn't use the word 'deserved'. You did.

Real world demographics have nothing to do with it. I'm talking about choice. Simple as that.

Oh yay. Attitude. That's fun.

In case you didn't notice then I never actually addressed any of your points.

I do it often. I quote people, make my own post and never actually address theirs. Why? Because soemtimes I click "quote" instead of the quick reply.

Is it a flaw in my posting style? Yes.

Does it occasionally cause something like this? Yes.

Do I care to correct it? Not really.

Again, I'm going to ask why this thread isn't on the character/romance board?

I'm sorry, I'm somewhat slow in the head. You'll have to explain something for me.

Hypothetical: There are six crew members available for romance. Three are male, three are female. Romancing them all would require six playthroughs, three of each gender.

There are six crew members available for romance. Three are male, three are female. Romancing them all would require six playthroughs, between one and six for each gender.

...And this is supposed to discourage repeat playthroughs... how? I'd not consider what gender the player character was as some defining diversifying factor myself, both Shepards are the same person with different voices.

The differences of the play through becomes null becasuse there are no incentives. Dialogue would stay the same, and the changes would be soulless.

So the dialogue between romancing six individual personalities would be... the exact same? I don't get what you are arguing here.

What you are saying if, in me2 I romanced tali... I have no incentive in any other playthroughs to romance miranda?

This is all rather frustrating.

There WILL be s/s romances in ME3. No amount of whining will change the game. Regardless, we still don't know who we will be able to romance and who won't be available. Everyone should just relax and not worry about a feature they will or will not be using.

The common saying that people just can't seem to grasp - if you want a s/s romance choose so. If not, then don't. Simple to understand.

Bioware has already bowed to pressure related to the romances.

They dumbed them down after the FOX News thing from ME1.

Garrus and Tali were made LIs because of whining (and I'm a Talimancer).

So, they might.

The way Bioware handled s/s romances in DA 2 was horrible!

Garrus trying to flirt with my Male Shepard is something I do NOT want to see in ME 3.

The issue is that people don't want their fave LI from a previous game to be open to s/s romance in ME3 b/c they will be 'tainted 4evr' and Shepard will catch 'teh gay' germ from them or something...

Some are also worried that all LIs will be bisexual (even though it's been confirmed to be untrue) like 'dat evul DA2 game' and give convoluted reasons for why that would be bad.

No. They won't. If anything they've gone the opposite way. BSN doesn't represent the majority of players. There was no s/s content in ME1 and ME2 because of the "pressure" to avoid controversy. Now there are more players who don't care about s/s content.

And I'm not saying they should make them all bi. No. But they should make some of the squad mates we have already had a possible s/s choice.

In other words (to quote Chris Priestly):

"Here's a thought: Don't like a feature? Don't use that feature."

I'm glad Bioware isn't going down the same road as DA2 with going overboard on the homosexuality, because that would make them open to the same backlash.

A lot of people don't care to see homosexuality when they're playing video games, while many obviously want it in their games.

The best thing for Bioware to do would be to leave previous characters and their sexual orientation unchanged, while making new characters available for S/S.

That would be fair to both groups I believe.

What's wrong with discussing people's motivations for being against an in-game feature? This is a discussion forum, afterall.
