I'm okay with ******/bisexuality in Mass Effect, as long as it's done right, and I won't end on a bad note with a potential S/S romance just because I try to be nice to the guy, but don't want to romance him.

This part here though I think should also apply to straight romances as well. I don't think that issue is necessarily an S/S issue, but rather just a writing issue with romances. I assume you probably wouldn't want things to end on a bad note with an unappealing female character either because you try to be nice but don't want to romance her.

*chuckles*

for some reason, I feel that Ash and Kaid are gonna be the new romances available to both genders, because if I recall there were notations on that in the first game, as well as a hint at that in 2 with Ash and crew members. Ash kinda blurts it out be it platonic or not, "I love(d) you."

And there's also the whole crew's statements towards Tali's mannerisms towards male shep.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Chambers or Kasumi react the same way towards a fem shep in this manner.

What? did you think they were asexual? For me the origin of a romance is a little different to altering a characters sexual orientation. FYI while I was critical of the Garrus/Tali romances, I think Bioware got away with them. Just.  But it would be really excessive to have no romance option in the first game, introduce it in the second game and then after all that alter it without logical precedent in the third game.

Because I'm anticipating an "oh nos my immersion is ruined" reply. I'll say that in explicit relevance to this character it would be eroded significantly. The powers of the "suspension of disbelief" concept are not limitless.

Of course it won't happen though. Bioware aren't that foolish.

I think we can establish that if characters were bisexual, they would have approached both genders in ME2, after all the whole bisexual argument is based on the only personality matters ideology. (btw if I hear another
proposal for a “coming out of the closet subplot” in a traditional sci-fi epic...>:| )

But I’m sick of answering this question.

--> S/S Romance thread

Agreed, if Ashly is a possible SS char, explain how her religion fits into that? Forget about her and kaiden.

Let's talk about ME2 LI, why didn't any of them aside from kelly (ho) approach ss char? Liara is the only one that works, since she was already "down" with both.

Being gay and having a religion aren't necessarily exclusive. There are a lot of Christian homosexuals, Catholic homosexuals, etc. etc.

We've been over that point many times already, in this thread and others.

Judeo-Christian philosophy is clear regarding homosexuality and Ashley seems devout. No, it wouldn't make sense at all for her to be a lesbian.

With all due respect to those of you who play as gay Shep:

Garrus does not take it in the butt.

Didn't know you were so close to him he even told you what he thinks about taking it up the butt. I could've sweared there wasn't an option like that for my Shep to ask, but perhaps you Shep was in such tight bromance with him it popped up.

It's also clear what it thinks about premartial sex. You sure you wanna go there?

Settle down, dude. You're not taking up the sword (in the butt?) for civil rights on the Bioware forums.

I like how people complain about "established" sexuality of characters just because they don't talk with a lisp or wear pink face paint or what ever negative stereotype people cling to, nobody truly knows anybody's true backstory or lifestyle they are only seeing them in a work environment...who knows I may be wrong.

Absolutely not.  Similarly, there are no people who follow those religions who engage in premarital sex, tell lies, commit adultery, or steal.  That would be unheard of.

I think that is a rather close-minded opinion, honestly. I share Sundance31us' skepticism.

It's pretty simple actually. You cannot be a member of a religion if you blatantly contradict everything that the religion teaches.

Last time I checked, homosexuality didn't have some sort of elevated status above all other sins that also excommunicates you from your religion. There are plenty of homosexual Judeo-Christians, just like there are plenty of Judeo-Christian thieves, murderers, adulterers, liars, shellfish eaters, etc., etc.

Well there are christians out there who are gay and practice christianity. There ARE different ways to interpret the bible.

Btw, lets stop talking about religion because this thread will be closed.

Then those people shouldn't be Christians.

The Bible is not friendly to homosexuals. Any Christians who is needs to take a step back and realise that they're not following their supposed holy text, and either do what the book says, or leave the damned religion behind where it belongs.

lightsnow13 wrote...

..The Bible is pretty clear in its absolute hatred for homosexuality.

Lev 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."
Lev 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman,
both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put
to death."

That's just to name two of many examples.

Any Christian that is friendly towards homosexuals is deluding themselves into thinking that christianity is a religion of peace and tolerance.

It isn't. It's one of bigotry and hatred.

I'm pretty sure there was a big commotion about an openly lesbian bishop for some Christian Church.
