Heavy weapons for example, felt broken to me, others will disagree, but they weren't needed. You could easily play the game without it. Same principle of "last minute fudging"

Double post: Also, the game was postponed from November to March, likely to alleviate these concerns, of which I have no doubt, rather than furthering story and game play elements



If someone tells me that the concern of non-streamlined game play and akward game components  aren't a valid concern on game constraints,  I'll laugh the blue right off your ass.

Right. So it stands to reason that if they were cut before for budgetary reasons, wouldn't they be cut now in the final game if it were not feasible?  If they "couldn't afford" it, they wouldn't add them in now when past evidence has a shown a willingness to cut them out in prior games.  >_>

I'm sure infinite time and money would be something all developers want and desire.  Sadly, it is not so.  The extra development time should aid in alleviating your fears, should it not?  I still don't get it, but I will simply just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Does not follow....

If I had to venture a guess why it was postponed and base my hypothesis on nothing, I would say that the development team saw the DA2 cautionary tale of rushing through the development process, BEGGED EA to give them more time so they could make a complete feeling game, and got the approval so they could make the game they wanted to.

Well, I don't consider adding s/s romance fan service, but one could certainly argue that having romance (in general) in the game is already a form of fan service and that really it's more about sharing content and allowing others to have access to that same experience.  You know, the whole equality thing.

Adding s/s would make my game more enjoyable and add depth to it. In particular to the very lonely Shepard I have waiting in the wings.  She's not into asari and she's not into Kelly Chambers because she doesn't trust her.

I imagine that the added game development time has more to do with the desire to make a great game in general.  I'm not Bioware so I can't say for certain as to why the game was postponed though I doubt it was solely to please those who want s/s content.

then 12 days later, the game was announced to have new sexual preferential points.

Tell me that doesnt line up as "fudging" since it wasnt originally announced near last christmas for next month

It doesn't take a mind reader to see how the testosterone laden young uns will react to see that option, even if it's just an option. They are young, they are ignorant, and they will overreact. This is what makes up the majority of the ME playerbase, and all of those people do not visit the BSN regularly. If you don't picture them overreacting, and think they will act sensible, than you are naive.
The ME3 and the ME series as a whole will get a severe backlash from outside this community if such drastic changes are made. Would not be surprised if another "FOX news" incident will happen, if not on actual TV than it will appear in articles from all over. And it WILL have an effect on potential customers.

I think the amount of QQ/rage/complaints that people will show regarding S/S characters, no matter if they are Tali/Garrus/Ashley or Joker, will be minimal. It's not a gamebreaker. People will just say, "hey no thanks" maybe say something on the forums about it... then move on. Heck, Anders was bi in DA2... but my male Hawke just never showed an interest in him... boom... had no idea what his orientation was. Chances are, they'll set it up so unless you WANT to start a relationship with the character... you won't know.

People blaming violence on video games is not the same.  You act as if these games are going to turn people gay or something.

They're not furthering a "gay agenda" when these romances are completely and utterly optional, and will only be pursued by people that are interested in them, whereas "violence" in video games is usually unavoidable.
