Tali/Garrus = Character Development... But S/S = Character Betrayal?

I certainly didn't feel like the Garrus romance was forced or artificial, despite its inclusion being a result of fanservice. The element of trust and the concept of going from a "fling" to something more worked out very well and was in-character for both him and FemShep. He is very much Shepard-sexual, having no interest in humans and Tali is the same. Tali even goes so far as to flirt with a female Shepard as well. It's not out of character for either of them to be written as bisexual, so long as Shepard is involved.

Making people "Shep-sexual' is silly, bad writing, I don't care if it pleases some fans, but the integrity of the story comes first, and having lots of characters fawning over Shepard regardless of species/gender breaks reality and immersion because it seems forced and artificial.

Then golly gee boyee-o, you best drop Mass Effect like a hot potato. The introduction of m/m romance would not be the start of this. This was already a feature of the first two games.

I agree that having everyone fall madly in love with Shepard stretches the limits of believability, but that is not necessarily to do with S/S romances. I liked DA:O style, where you had a couple of heterosexual romances, a couple of bisexual romances, and a few great characters that were not romanceable at all. As an example of ME world, I'm really fond of Joker as a character, but I don't need him to be a LI. His brotherly relationship with FemShep is perfectly enough to make me squee with joy.

I don't need to get everything I want in the game. Makes it more realistic when some things are unattainable.

Joker as a LI...

Must really like the sounds of snapin' shin bones

These are my suggestions for romances in ME3. I hope you're reading this Bioware.

Maleshep romance options:
Liara, Ashley, Miranda, Jack, Tali, Kasumi and Kelly.

Femshep romance options:
Kaidan, Garrus, Thane, Jacob, Miranda, Jack, Samara, Liara, Ashley, Kelly, Tali, Kasumi, that girl down in the engine room, Miranda's sister, all of the Asari strippers, and last but not least, the biotic god.

It... actually isn't bad writing. A character is perfectly capable of coming to care for someone as more than just a friend, just like a person is. All people are capable of being or becoming bisexual, it just depends on societal stigma, the situation, etc.

But on the BSN "I don't like it" is synonymous with: retcon, plot-hole, and "bad writing".

So does having squadmates falling for a shepard that looks like a hemroid on a donkey's backside, they don't force you to make a shepard that looks like an inside-out scrotum the same way they don't force you to make love to men, would it so much as break your perptual immersion knowing that you can romance a character you like as a male shepard?

It's already been confirmed that characters won't flirt with you, you'll engage the romance.

So if I may quote chris preistly: "Here's an idea, if you don't like a feature, don't use it"

It's really cute how at least two jump on Vilma wanting Joker as an LI too. Shows how much they can read.

Straight women are attracted to gay men for the sole purpose in that they seem to always know how to take care of their bodies and slick themselves up in ways straight men do not... unfortunatley.
Guys like to spy on lesbians getting naked, just as girls like to spy on gay guys getting naked.

You seem to have a weird views of straight men. I dunno if you take it from your own experiece but lemme tell you, most of straight men can take care of themselves just as well as gay men and most of them ain't raging bigots unlike you think of them.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of.. um... "being with" a bird.
I was squeamish towards the Garrus/femshep relation too... it...

personally me.. I see Garrus and see an ostrich.  He's big tall and lanky has plumage on the back of his head and neck and is digigraded.

I mean... if Garrus and Shep had a kid what would it look like?

Eh? eh?

If shep and tali had a kid, what would it look like?

Would the.. ahem... mechanics of it even be possible for Garrus to be gay?  Does he posess the proper... uh... equipment?  Does his culture.. accept these things?  Does Tali's?

An codex entry states that Quarians are "human-like" aside from feet, ears and hands.  Garrus, CLEARLY isnt.  I think his reproductive system would be (on visual distinction) like a birds.  They say the females look exactly like the males, from artist reviews stating "Just draw lipstick on it."

to throw this convo in the complete opposite direction, at this point is it really gay if you're seducing a bald eagle?  Isnt that.. something that's illegal in 50 states?

I do agree that for Tali it makes sense not so sure about Garrus as I feel the male shep Garrus thing is more respect than anything

with Tali is not a big jump as she already flirts with fem shep its just you are not allowed to use the I feel the same way option in the chat I think another same sex option will be Ashley as she was meant to be a same sex option in mass effect 1 from all I read would also like miranda as a same sex option for the guys kaidan and vega

Yes the only problem is, is that a bald eagle isn't sentient, first of all we've seen Captain Gavorn so his culture probably does accept these things, second of all, does it really matter if it's "all there" on garrus? I would think that it is but even still, garrus says he's not attracted to humans, which mean it's highly likely he's pansexual, so I doubt the relationship would be purly sexual, tali can't have sex with you without getting an infection, but that still worked.

And besides, if the sex isn't feasible for a man, why would it be for a women?

You're basing quite a lot on your own personal impressions. In 'reality', Garrus is not a bird of any kind. Nor is he any kind of other animal.

Also, the difficulty of human-turian physical relationship is addressed quite a lot in the course of the romantic subplot.

Also, there is quite a lot more to a physical relationship than basic heterosexual penetration.

Also, Garrus is clearly presented to the player as a male, with the VA and all, which makes him, for the context of this discussion, a male.

Of the cultural acceptance of cross-species relationship, there is another topic in the general section. Link

I dont recall Gavorn being gay, or mentioned that he was. I think I missed a memo about innuendo about "killing a lot of vorcha down there."

Maybe it was the whole, "down there," part.

My point at that was a joke, and I also made the statement that I was squeamish towards the Garrus/Fem shep with the whole Retarded Chocobo pic.
