@ Bekkael: I have been forced to play female characters before: Bayonetta, Lara Croft, Eve in Parasite Eve, one of the main characters in Resident Evil. That's just off of the top of my head. And not once did her gender ever enter my mind. She was a character. I find your viewpoint to be more than a little sexist. Sexism should NOT be rewarded IMO.

Anyways, how predictable is it that the patriarchs' arguments tend to rest on an imagined necessity?</rhetorical question>:bandit:

Don't let his hollow words bug ya, he isn't worth a respond if that's his reply anyway.

Thnks. Feel free to ignore Hanzo or whatever you want, but, as a male, I'm pretty much obligated to feed patriarchs their own feet. :bandit:

Okay as a female I really don't care who is on the box (frankly I would prefer Shep to not be on the box period and just have the N7 symbol on the box). Though I would prefer it be dude Shep if I have to have a Shep on the cover. (But I'm pretty pro a FemShep cover box and a male Shep cover box so everyone gets a choice and I can just grab the box with dude Shep on it and call it a day).

Don't really give a damn who is in the trailers because neither of them are *my* Shep so whateves. As long as I can play my Shep in the actual game...I really really don't give a damn.

Wow! I think you just listed about 90% of the games that you can play as a female character....good job! Image IPB

I wouldn't care if femShep got her own CGI trailer. I would like to it be different than Sheploo's though(new content/different battle/whatever). I doubt it is going to ****** on anyone's cupcakes giving femShep a trailer or two.

@Nette: It's a video game. It's not really that serious. Your responses indicate deeper issues that you need to go get talked out with a professional. I really don't care anymore because it's late where I am. So, think what you want. I'm going to bed.

That statement in and of itself was hella patriarchal and sexist, and you probably don't even understand how. Before I go of on a full force rant, you familiar with the concept of the 'invisible knapsack'? -_-

...Actually, screw diplomacy here...You's a whole phallic object, dude.<_<

The majority of video games have male protagonists, so what didn't bother me when I first started gaming, eventually became a sore spot through continued rubbing in game after game.

The handful of listed games with female characters is merely that. There are literally hundreds with no option for anything other than male. I fail to see how wanting an avatar that represents my gender makes me sexist. I'm not saying all gamers should be forced to play as female, I'm saying both genders are equally deserving of representation. There should be more choice in games, not less.

That's not sexism, that's a cry for equality.

@StephanieBengal: Sorry, missed your post. I don't really care to see the female perspective on this issue. A FemShep trailer isn't going to make me not buy ME3. And I don't care if you don't take me seriously. You don't know me and will never meet me, so what does it matter?

@LucidStrike: The use of the term "patriarch"... Your genitalia is small isn't it? And that's my last response seeing as I'll probably be banned after that one lol. Goodnight everyone!

Advice: Don't get banned to make some trite insult to a stranger. It's not a good look.

You respond to a male's use of language informed by feminist theory with a boring penis joke?...Ha. You suck at critical thinking AND trolling, huh? Dudes who speak so publically about penis size must have a reason to be so preoccupied with it, a reason to worry. I'm not so dudebro as to speak openly about my penis size on a game forum...and I definitely have nothing to worry about. Slide off, yo.

Yeah, I hear you. And I feel the same way you do. Playing games for 15+ years as a dude really gets to you after a while, which is why I love Bioware=choise to play as female! Image IPB

Count the number of games where you're only allowed to play as male and compare that to the number of games where you only allowed to play as female.  Don't you see a slight imbalance there?  Perhaps the gender of those games didn't enter into your mind because you knew there were a whole lot more games out there with male only characters.

Just curious, I haven't played the games you mentioned but is the female lead...slightly overly sexy? ;)

I have another question. Why do threads like this always turn into wars that sound like a bunch of feminists fighting a bunch of caveman. Even if Bioware does not put femShep in any of the marketing it does not make female gamers any less female and it won't meant that female gamers are second class citizens. If Bioware does put femShep in their marketing it does not make male gamers any less male and it does not mean that females are taking over the game market. It's just a game, a form of entertainment. Most of you make it sound like a life threating matter.

Yes, I will be highly satisfied to see a FemShep trailer. It is, with a 50% chance, the actual canon story, yes?

It's actually the canon for quite a few players, male and female. Some people just prefer Hale's voice acting over Meer's, so role femshep for that reason alone. :D

Yeah, my husband actually made a femshep for his first playthrough with ME1 (he hasn't got to ME2 yet) and he has grown very attached to her.

Bayonetta, Lara Croft, Eve in Parasite Eve, one of the main characters in Resident Evil.

...Considering half those characters are heavily sexualised, that doesn't really help your case, mate.

No interest at all. I'd also consider it a waste of resources giving a trailer to a vocal minority who are buying the game anyway.

I'm still on the fence regarding a purchase of ME3.
