It costs too much to make a cinematic trailer, whats the point of doing an femshep one, didn't Casey say that it took toomuch resource for something only 1/5 of players use.

15% of my player fanbase isn't a big enough portion for me to invest time and resources into a up to 120 second CGI trailer when i can be spending that precious time developing more important things.

Ofcourse in the likely scenario that Bioware hires Blur to do one as they did for ME2, that would be quite a large financial investment which i'm sure EA is more than happy to throw money at.

I think it would be cool to have an in game engine promo video that you can upload your shepard into. I would think it would be less expensive than making a hi res promo and people would love it.

I don't think it would be a bad idea. If they want to specifically target female players having a trailer designed for it would be an obvious move. The content would be a little different as well, more focus on charcters, emotion and dialogue in equal parts along with the action. Ultimately all these trailers are to target new players who wouldn't automatically buy the game ie not really for most of us. Having a femshep trailer might get quite a bit of free publicity because it has been a long time coming, a point of difference to quite a few other games and the recent votes on the subject have been controversial.

Nah, you can't just swap models in a rendered CGI trailer. It doesn't work like a game engine. The other huge issue is Femshep has a thing called 'hair'. That may not seem like a big deal, but that needs to be animated too. Things that just can't be swapped around in a big budget CGI extravaganza.

But, an ingame trailer could be awesome with some time spent. They've got plenty of their own assets- but it'd be ingame.

As long as it doesn't feature RedShep, I wouldn't mind.

Well 20% is actually a quite large pecentage and it may be more if the trailer appeals to more people.

Do it. Hale will have already recorded the lines anyway. Load the sequence in, substitute the default femShep, and run them again. It's not like they have to make a completely new one.

How? I am not arguing on the male side, but I am curious as to why you choose this stance.

Sure I am fine with it. I find this business with the default Shepards funny though since I always make custom Shepards no matter what gender I am playing.

Seeing how sheploo has been in all the other vids in the past it would look weird for some to all of a sudden not include him in the final chapter in his story's CGI trailer. Though personally I would love to see a femshep trailer since it will mix it up and also help with advertising that you can play as male and female. Of couse Bioware could just put on the box/website saying "Costomize your shepards gender, looks, and powers!" or something along those lines to make it cheaper and possibly more effective way to achieve this task.

I would rather BW spend time and effort on something that actually matters.

Bioware seriously need to advertise that you can play as femshep. I was talking to a friend at a party and she said she liked Dragon Age. I asked her if she had played ME, she basically said she wasn't interested because it looked male-oriented. I told her you could play as a female and that the choices you make across ME1 & 2 will affect ME3, and there was an opportunity for romance. It sparked her interest.

So to summarise, Bioware needs to market Femshep, because the message isn't getting out to the female gamers. Bioware needs a cinematic advert for femshep, and a game box case that has femshep on it. Customers can walk into a store and pick up a sheploo or femshep game case.

This.

Only 20% of players played as FemShep, and some were male, but 40% of gamers are female. There's obviously a fan base they're not reaching right now. Since a trailer has already been confirmed, obviously marketing is aware of this.

If you want something to take off, get both genders talking about it. Word of mouth just spreads better that way.

It's very likely to feature GingerFemShep.

And I'd like a FemShep Trailer.

That's not exactly what he said, or what he meant, I don't think...  From what I can vaguely remember, he basically said that they were giving a lot to femshep fans by investing in the trailer, etc., because only a fraction of the fanbase play as her.  In other words, while it wouldn't normally be done due to the costs, they are making a femshep trailer anyway, because they are that awesome to their fans.

Has he considered perhaps that maybe only 1/5 of players use it because there are no trailers?

The way to broaded a market is to advertise to them.
