If "a long time ago" means "when they announced putting her on the collectors edition box", sure. Before that? Not so much. I certainly saw nothing relating to her before then, nor the female equivilants of any of their past protaganists. Marketing for their games just don't present them. They've not been in any trailers, advertisements, or gameplay footage that I've ever seen. When they are, I might reconsider my opinion.

Oh, wait, no. I totally saw that one picture of female Hawke at some point before DA2 came out. Totally enough.

I could never understand why for some it's such a huge problem that femShep/femHawk aren't seen in marketing. When the game will be out nobody will remember the marketing anyway. We have the option to play a female protagonist in the game, that what's really important.

I don't really play as female Shepard anyway, so not really.

Most shooters are male oriented. Why ignore female gamers and a large market segment? Maybe they used up their advertising budget pushing the multiplayer option.

Very much so. It's the last game (supposedly) in the series, and they have shown more interest now in FemShep than in the last two games.

I think at this point, most players are already of a mind to buy the game anyway, so there won't be any confusion on who the 'face' of ME is.

I was hoping they would finally show a FemShep trailer at VGAs. Too bad we got another ManShep trailer. Aren't there already enough trailers and ingame videos showing ManShep?

This

Please Bioware give us some actual FemShep footage.

Irrelevant to you, perhaps, but important to a lot of us.

And besides, it's not YOUR money being 'wasted', is it? :P

Didn't BioWare promise a femshep trailer? I seem to remember that they did, but then again I may be mistaken.

After KotOR, I had taken a break from BioWare. Not by intention, I just never happened to think about their games. Heard something about this game called Mass Effect from a friend and I saw some shooter with a shaved guy in it. Didn't feel very impressed and was sad BioWare too would just start making boring shooters. "They used to make such great games like BG and KotOR, too" I remember myself thinking.

On a whim, I decided to pick up ME1 later on when I was out of games to play. Did so solely because I knew the BioWare brand from before and recognised it as quality, even though I wasn't hyped at all for the game. I put the disc in my 360 and... let's just say I felt like an utter idiot for being so late to the party.

Simply having waved a trailer for ME1 with a female Shepard shooting geth in my face would at least have shown me a proper character creator was still in the game, meaning I'd not roll my eyes at the game and dismiss it as Generic Duty Shooter of Space Honour 7.

Perhaps I was fickle. Perhaps I was shallow. But I know one thing for sure, I was not the only one who experienced the exact same thing. Cause nobody is that much of a unique snow flake =)

tl;dr bring on the FemShep trailer!!

I think that a overstatement to be fair. Only a few percentage of individuals desire such a trailer. And you're right, his money isn't being wasted, but I wonder though... Cannot those resource be contributed to the actually game (potentially making it better) than another trailer with the only purpose is to hype?  I think the people who take favor in femshep should be more concern with how she actually preforms in game. Trailers don't really mean anything if the core game sucks itself.

Marketing and development have separate funds, AFAIK, so no. By that logic we should have no trailers at all, since all of them serve the sole purpose of hype.

Indifferent. Fine if they do make one, no problem if they don't. I'm not really interested in trailers.

No, not at all. Trailers are important to get people hype up for the upcoming game, alas that's their only purpose. I remember feeling so excited for DA2 just by watch the "destiny extended" trailer. Same goes for FFversus13 trailer, it's all hype... That's what makes people consider buying the game.

To clarify, what I meant is ME3 already has enough trailers to get hyped on. I was just concerned with the actually game since that's what ultimately counts. I hope that helps.B)

Maybe. The only clip we've seen that I've really considered a trailer is Fall of Earth. The rest are rather half-arsed, which I attribute to the fact that the marketing campaign hasn't started yet.

Marketing is not about "spending money", it's about investing money. And money will only be invested if there is money to be won by it. When you consider "marketing" you have to consider this fact.

What about the "collector's edition unboxing" vid? It was pretty tight. Made a lot of people reconsider their initial pre order.

Not that interested in it. It's a NVA issue in my opinion.
